Sonny’s Name Was the Loudest Thing in That Cell

These General Hospital spoilers ask the question Port Charles is about to tear itself apart over: what if Drew framed Sonny? On Friday’s attack, three inmates cornered Jenz Sidwell in his cell. Curtis Ashford, who had begged Sidwell to take protective custody, stepped in and got beaten right alongside him.

On the way out, the attackers delivered a message nobody could miss: “Sonny Corinthos owes you this. And more.” Real mob hits don’t usually sign their work. That kind of loud, convenient calling card is exactly why Drew Cain belongs at the top of our suspect list.

Sonny isn’t exactly innocent here. He swears he’s going legit, yet he bragged to Ric that he runs a network of inmates keeping tabs on Sidwell, and he sent his associate Vito to Pentonville with a message. The day before the attack, Sidwell told Alexis he was sure someone wants him dead and begged her to get Sonny off his back. The evidence practically gift-wraps itself.

A Man With a Grudge Against Both Targets

Look at the motive list and it reads like a revenge ledger. Back in August, Mayor Laura Collins asked Sonny and Drew to keep the peace, and Drew told her flat out that it was impossible. In September, he stormed Sonny’s house hunting for Scout Cain. Now the two men are fighting over the piers, and even Ric warned that Drew’s bid seems more personal than business.

Then there is Sidwell. In February, he stood over a paralyzed Drew and bragged that Willow couldn’t have put him in that bed without his help. A beatdown in Sidwell’s cell with Sonny’s name stamped on it would settle two scores at once. Drew Cain has also done this before. He planted Jack Brennan’s wallet in Nina Reeves‘s car, promised Ava Jerome that “nothing will be traced back to us,” and watched the WSB haul Nina away.

Did Drew Frame Sonny for the Prison Attack on General Hospital?

Nobody has confirmed it, and the show hasn’t named a culprit. What the head writers have said is telling. They warned that Sonny’s enemies will “seek to use his past against him” and that his war with Drew carries “potentially fatal consequences.” They just didn’t say which enemy.

Here is the wrinkle that makes this juicier. The inmate who warned Curtis to stay out of his cell after lunch spoke up right after Vito’s visit, and one of the attackers was Sonny’s own associate. So if Drew Cain pulled this off, somebody inside Sonny’s prison pipeline is taking Drew’s money. And remember, Drew told Jordan Ashford on September 18 that he was using his connections to get Curtis out early. If Drew aimed at Sidwell, Curtis was the collateral damage nobody planned for.

Follow the money and the misery. Dante Falconeri is the acting police commissioner, so he’s the one who has to investigate his own father. The prosecutor is ADA Justine Turner, who is secretly seeing Sonny and has her campaign for district attorney on the line. A frame like this traps Sonny’s son and Sonny’s girlfriend in one move.

Drew Cain would walk away with Sonny’s legitimate empire in ruins and the piers wide open. Ava, who just vowed to bring Sonny down after he pulled Avery out of school, would get her revenge. And Sidwell gets a hospital bed plus a shiny new argument that Sonny wants him dead.

Dante’s suspicions are confirmed on Tuesday, Ava and Drew are horrified on Wednesday, Dante confronts Sonny about the beating on Thursday, and Sonny is crushed on Friday.
