Nick’s Vow Comes Due on Thursday
These are the Young and the Restless spoilers October 1 fans have been dreading since Nick walked out of rehab. While Victor hosts a meeting of the minds to help his son, Nick Newman takes matters into his own hands. The man in his sights is Joe, the former dealer Nick blames for putting his friend Marie Kirkland in a hospital bed.
Wednesday’s episode ends the way no recovering addict’s day should, with Nick learning at the ranch that Marie overdosed again at the same motel where she overdosed in August. She was found unconscious, and nobody can say yet whether she will pull through. On his way out, Nick mutters the line that sets up everything in this week’s Young and the Restless spoilers: “Damn you, Joe. You are a dead man.”
Joe had been circling all day. He strolled into Crimson Lights and told Nick he had seen Marie recently. Nick called it a lie, shoved him out the door and warned him never to come back and to leave his family alone. Marie Lied About Going Home
Here is the part that stings. When Marie left town in September, Nick told Sharon she had gone home to be with family. On Wednesday, Adam Newman looked into her and found she has no family at all. She is completely alone, and the one person she has is a man 13 days out of rehab.
Nick has already gambled everything for this woman once. When her husband, Logan Kirkland, grabbed her at rehab on Sept 4, she pushed him away, he fell, and he never got up. Nick tried to take the blame himself. Marie refused, confessed, and police ruled it self-defense. A man who would confess to a killing for her was never going to sit politely through a family meeting while she fights for her life.
What happened to Marie on Young and the Restless?
Marie overdosed for the second time, and as of Wednesday she is alive but unconscious in the hospital. Her first overdose came Aug 12, in the motel room next to Nick’s. He gave her CPR and called 911 over her objections, and that night sent him back to rehab.
The fury skips one detail. Nobody has shown Joe selling Marie a single pill. On screen, Joe only said he had seen her. Nick is acting on what he believes, and if he is wrong, Nick Newman is about to torch his sobriety, and maybe his freedom, over a hunch.
Victor’s Meeting Versus Nick’s Plan
Victor Newman is doing what Victor does, gathering the troops to fix things. On Wednesday the family chose to tell Nick about Marie together so he would not hear it alone. Thursday’s summit is meant to keep him safe, and we already caught Victor’s secret plan to save his son taking shape. Nick is not waiting around for the verdict.
The timing could not be worse. Just Tuesday, Jack Abbott told Nick he was willing to be his sponsor even though Victor was “not exactly receptive,” and Nick said his recovery would not be run by his father’s feelings. It was the step we flagged when Nick first turned to Jack for help. Two days later, the call Nick Newman most needs to make is to the sponsor he picked.
Three Ways Thursday Goes Wrong
Don’t be surprised if Nick stops at the hospital first. One look at Marie in that bed would only harden him. My gut tells me the bigger danger sits in Joe’s pocket. A dealer who wanders into your coffeehouse is selling something, and a grieving addict with a grudge is the easiest customer in Genoa City.
If I know these writers, something breaks on Thursday: his sobriety, his family’s trust, or his clean record. Victor has buried messes before, and he will try again. The question is whether Nick Newman lets him.

Nick Needs to Call Jack Before He Finds Joe
