Brady Black Puts His Foot Down at Rachel’s Hospital Bed

Kristen DiMera is not going anywhere. Spoiler chatter claims she tries to take Rachel Black with her when she leaves Salem, but the Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of October 19 point the other way. Kristen is not about to leave her little girl, even with EJ hunting her. Instead, Brady Black puts his foot down on Monday, October 19, and then offers Kristen a glimmer of hope on Wednesday, October 21.

Monday brings an emotional reunion between mother and daughter, and Brady is not having it. In this week’s promo he tells Kristen, “I can’t have you anywhere near our little girl.” Then reality bites. One preview says Brady has to relent and let Rachel see her mother, because Kristen is standing right there and Rachel can see her.

How Kristen Got Back to Rachel’s Bedside

This standoff has been building for two weeks. As our daily recaps tracked it, Rachel told Brady on October 6 that she wanted her mom. The next day Sarah Horton said Rachel’s appendix had ruptured and she needed surgery right away. By October 16 Rachel was still in the hospital, fighting an infection.

Kristen came running when she read a message from Brady, and she did not come alone. Sophia Choi, the girl Salem thinks is dead, followed her to town demanding the money Kristen promised her. Kristen agreed to pay, but Sophia has not seen a dime yet.

Meanwhile Brady learned something that changed everything. On October 12, Kayla Johnson passed along what Steve Johnson had heard from Johnny DiMera: Kristen was behind the attempt on Johnny’s life. Brady believed it. So when he walked back into Rachel’s room and found Kristen in disguise, as we covered in our recap of Kristen’s hospital visit, he ordered her out.

She refused. Sarah walked in, Kristen begged her as a mother not to call security, and Rachel woke up and called out for her mom.

Does Kristen DiMera Take Rachel and Leave Salem on Days of Our Lives?

Not according to the previews. Only one report has Kristen DiMera trying to take Rachel with her when she leaves Salem, and nothing else backs it up. The rest say the opposite: Kristen has to stay out of sight because EJ is after her, and she will not leave her daughter’s side.

There is a reason Brady is braced for it anyway. Kristen has tried this before. In January 2023 she tried to leave town with Rachel, Brady stopped her at the door, and she was arrested. Brady has not forgotten it.

Brady and Kristen Have Fought Over Rachel for Years

Their history reads like a custody war with no ceasefire. In May 2020, after the truth about Rachel’s baby swap came out, Brady told Kristen to take the baby and stay away from Salem to keep herself out of prison. A judge sided with Brady in September 2022. Then in August 2023 Kristen won full custody, and Brady was left with supervised visits.

The darkest chapter came next. In 2025 Kristen confessed to shooting EJ DiMera to protect Rachel, the real shooter, and went to prison before she recanted. In March 2026 a judge sent Rachel back to Bayview under court supervision. Rachel came home in July, and within weeks Kristen was in hiding from EJ.

What Brady’s Glimmer of Hope Could Mean

Here is what we know for sure: on Wednesday, Brady gives Kristen DiMera a reason to hope. No preview says what it is. My gut tells me it is a visit, maybe with Brady in the room, the same supervised setup he once had to live with himself.

Could it be a trade instead? Brady wants the whole truth about Johnny, and Kristen is the one who has it. Don’t be surprised if any hope comes with strings attached. And with EJ circling, Kristen DiMera cannot hide in Salem forever, which is exactly why the runaway talk will not die. The wider spoiler slate has not settled that one yet.
