Remembering The Man Behind Nick Hudson
Mark Mortimer has passed away at 59, and fans of Another World are saying goodbye to the actor who brought Nick Hudson to life in the soap’s final years. He died on September 23, with the people closest to him by his side, following a cancer diagnosis in 2024.
Fans who tuned in during those last seasons will remember him in the Hudson family’s orbit. Per Soap Opera Digest, two other actors had played Nick before Mark Mortimer took over, and the role also marked his television debut. Nick arrived as the surprise son of Michael Hudson, and the part stayed with Mark through the series finale in 1999.

In His Own Words
That same coverage revisits a 1999 interview in which Mark described his time on the set as a classroom of sorts. He called Kale Browne a father figure and credited Jensen Buchanan and other castmates for guiding him through his earliest days as an actor.
A Life Built Beyond The Cameras
Away from the screen, Mark Mortimer was a veteran of the Army who took up modeling and later became a builder, co-founding Inside Out Construction with his wife and a business partner. The company anchored the family for more than two decades.
He and his wife shared a quarter century of marriage. After more than a decade of hoping to become parents, they welcomed their daughter, and his obituary describes a father who planned his work around her life and tucked her in every night when she was small.
Following his diagnosis, he and his wife established their Integrative Access Foundation, aimed at helping patients reach integrative therapies that cost too much for many families. His family says faith gave him peace at the end.

Sending Love To His Family
Rather than sending flowers, loved ones are being invited to donate in his name to Integrative Access Foundation, the cause he and his wife championed.
