TL;DR: Six weeks after Hayden Panettiere’s sudden death in Greenville, South Carolina, the Greenville County Coroner’s Office has released her official cause of death, first reported by People.

What The Coroner’s Office Confirmed

Hayden Panettiere died from an accidental overdose, according to a September 22 release from the Greenville County Coroner’s Office. Officials stated that toxicology results identified the cause as the toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, Alprazolam, Methocarbamol, and Quetiapine, and that her manner of death has been ruled an accident.

The Coroner’s Office noted that no signs of trauma were found during her autopsy, and that nothing in the findings indicated foul play. Panettiere was 36 years old.

Remembering Her Life Beyond This News

Soap Opera Magazine first shared the news of Hayden Panettiere’s passing back in August, along with the tribute her Nashville co-star and General Hospital alum Jonathan Jackson wrote in her honor. Long before either of those roles, Panettiere got her start on daytime television, first as Sarah Roberts on One Life to Live and later as Lizzie Spauldingon Guiding Light, beginnings that first introduced her to the soap community that continues to mourn her today.

Hayden Panettiere is survived by her daughter, Kaya.
