So someone please explain why, during one of the most chaotic stretches Genoa City has seen in years, both of them have essentially vanished from the canvas.

Let’s start with Michael. Newman Enterprises is a hot mess right now — the kind of mess that Victor would normally have Michael neck deep in before the opening credits finished rolling. There are power plays, family drama, and enough legal and corporate landmines to keep any fixer busy for months, and yet Michael is nowhere to be found. No calls. No backroom strategy sessions. No Michael showing up at the Newman ranch with that knowing look on his face. For a man who has built his entire identity around being Victor’s right hand, his absence during all of this is not a minor detail — it’s a loophole big enough to drive a truck through.

Lauren Fenmore Is Nikki’s Person and She Is Not There

Then there’s Lauren. Nikki has been through it — losing Chancellor, dealing with the fallout, holding herself together while everything around her shifts. This is exactly the kind of moment Lauren Fenmore was built for. She has been Nikki’s ride or die through marriages, scandals, relapses, and more. And now, when Nikki could genuinely use her best friend in her corner, Lauren is MIA. No lunches at Society. No phone calls. No Lauren showing up at the ranch to check in. Nothing.

The Fake Kidnapping That Nobody Apparently Told Them About

And let’s not forget Lily Winters‘ fake kidnapping — a storyline with enough drama, danger, and emotional fallout to pull in half of Genoa City. Michael Baldwin, attorney and longtime member of the inner circle, had no visible reaction. Lauren, who has known these characters for decades, was equally absent. At what point do the writers remember that these two exist?

Y&R Fans Deserve Better Than This

Michael and Lauren are legacy characters with deep roots in nearly every major Genoa City family and storyline. Sidelining both of them at the same time — during Newman chaos, a fake kidnapping, and Nikki losing Chancellor — is not a missed opportunity. It’s a pattern. And The Young and the Restless fans deserve better than watching their favorites disappear every time the plot gets thick.
