TL;DR: Nate Hastings dumped Audra Charles for getting tangled up with Victor Newman. Fair enough. But now he’s circling right back to Victoria Newman, a woman who has never once told her father no, on The Young and the Restless. Somebody explain how this is an upgrade.

Audra Charles Didn’t Self-Destruct Alone

Audra Charles was many things, but she didn’t blow up her relationship with Nate Hastings all by herself on The Young and the Restless. Part of her demise was a deal she made with Victor Newman, and when that came to light, it was over. Victor’s fingerprints were all over the end of that relationship, whether Nate fully acknowledged it or not. Audra got tangled in the Newman web, made a move she couldn’t take back, and Nate paid the price right along with her. Victor didn’t hover in the background. He was a deciding factor. And the most telling part? Audra isn’t a Newman. She got too close to one. Victoria Newman is one by blood, by loyalty, and by instinct.

Nate Has Already Seen This Movie and Victor Was in It

This is not a new film. Nate Hastings has already sat through this one and it had a full cast. The last time Nate and Victoria were involved, it wasn’t Victoria he had to navigate. Victor Newman made sure of that. The Almighty Victor has never been shy about protecting his daughter’s interests, and even more so, Newman Enterprises. Nate got a front row seat to what it looks like when Victor decides someone isn’t good enough for his family or his company. The mixed signals, the corporate power plays, the Newman machine running in the background. Nate lived through all of it. And now he’s buying a ticket to see it again.

Victor Newman Is the Common Thread and That’s the Real Problem

This is what fans are seeing that Nate apparently isn’t. It wasn’t Audra who was the problem. It wasn’t Victoria who was complicated. Victor Newman is the common thread running through both of these situations, and Nate keeps walking straight back into his orbit. Whether it’s a woman who made a deal with Victor or a woman who shares his bloodline, the result is the same. Nate ends up tangled in Newman business, Newman loyalty, and Newman priorities. And those will always come before Nate Hastings.

At the end of the day, Nate is a smart guy. Or at least he’s supposed to be. But right now, he looks like a man who learned the wrong lesson. He blamed Audra when he should have been paying attention to the bigger picture. And now he’s walking toward Victoria like Victor Newman isn’t standing right behind her. So we’re asking you.
