Young and the Restless Spoilers October 2: Victoria Newman Unravels, and Kyle Abbott Sees a New Side

Victoria Cries Where Nobody Can See Her

These Young and the Restless spoilers October 2 catch the most buttoned-up woman in Genoa City in pieces. Victoria Newman has kept her secret with Kyle Abbott locked down for weeks, and on Friday, Kyle sees a new side to her. We already know where it starts, because Thursday’s episode aired a day early in Canada. Victoria lets herself into Kyle’s secret apartment, calls out for him, finds it empty, sits down at his kitchen counter and cries.

The trigger is her brother. On Wednesday, Nick Newman learned that his friend Marie Kirkland overdosed again and is unconscious in the hospital. He walked out of the ranch swearing his old dealer, Joe, is “a dead man.” Everything since then is in this week’s Young and the Restless spoilers, and none of it is calming Victoria down.

At the ranch on Thursday, Victoria frets that the family made a mistake telling Nick at all. Her half-brother, Adam Newman, insists Nick would have found out anyway, and Victor Newman has to break up the squabble. Adam is sent to track Nick down, because the whole family fears he could be using again. As we caught in Thursday’s Canadian day-ahead, Victoria went looking for comfort at the danger zone, and nobody was home.

Boris, Natasha and a Key to HQ

Twenty-four hours earlier, Victoria was having fun. She squirmed through an awkward lunch at Society with her daughter, Claire Newman, who happens to be Kyle’s ex. Once Claire left, Victoria told Kyle she has no regrets and that their secret is nobody else’s business. Then Victoria and Kyle picked spy code names over that lunch: she is Natasha, he is Boris, and the apartment is HQ.

Victoria Newman’s parting words when the family summoned her to the ranch? “Keep your phone on, Boris.” Kyle told her not to panic and to text him later. He handed her a key and a garage code on Monday, and the deal was simple: fun and games, sneaking around, and definitely not dating. Nobody planned for one of them to show up there in tears.

Is Nick Newman using again on Young and the Restless?

No. As of Thursday’s episode, Nick has not used since leaving rehab on Sept 17, and he swears he is not even tempted. On Tuesday Kyle’s father, Jack Abbott, agreed to be his sponsor. What Nick wants is revenge: he refuses to let the police handle Joe and insists on doing this his own way, which is exactly what has his family so frightened. Here is what makes Friday bigger than a good cry. CBS used the exact same preview line, “Kyle sees a new side to Victoria,” back on Aug 11. That day Victoria admitted at Crimson Lights that she was afraid everything would fall apart if she let her guard down over Nick leaving rehab. Kyle held her, they nearly kissed, and Jack walked back in. About two weeks later, Kyle and Victoria Newman slept together in Jack’s office at Jabot.

The Control Freak Finally Lets Someone In

Victoria runs on control. She is about to run Newman alongside Nick and keeps the family in line. She has also hidden this affair from her daughter and her father for more than a month. Crying alone at a kitchen counter is not her style, which is why that empty apartment stings. She went to HQ for comfort, not for fun, and that is a dating move, whatever the two of them call it.

My gut tells me Kyle walks in on her mid-meltdown, and Victoria lets him see every bit of it. Don’t be surprised if that is the moment their “not dating” rule quietly dies. If I know these writers, the timing is no accident. Kyle’s father is now Nick’s sponsor, so the man Victoria leans on is tied to the man trying to save her brother.

There is a catch. Where was Kyle on Thursday? He told her to text him, and she walked into an empty apartment anyway. The longer this stays hidden, the bigger the blast if Claire, Victor or Adam ever learns what HQ really is. For now, Victoria Newman has bigger fears than getting caught.
