What Happens to Phyllis on Y&R April 23?

Phyllis Summers watches her Summers Conglomerate empire crumble in real time on Thursday’s Young and the Restless. Victor has already paid off roughly 75% of her workforce, her backup hiring list is exhausted, and Michael is the last name on it. The problem? Michael just took a private meeting with Victor at the ranch to hear out a brand new AI program, one designed specifically to fabricate illegal communications between her, Cane, and Billy Abbott.

Translation: The Red Menace is being framed in real time and she has no idea how deep the knife is already in.

Does She Know Victor Is Framing Her?

No, Phyllis does not know the full scope of what Victor Newman is building against her. She knows her staff is bleeding out. She knows the resignation emails are piling up. She knows something is very, very wrong. But she has no clue that Michael Baldwin just warned her about “serious legal jeopardy” because Michael is literally the one who sat in Victor‘s office and heard the plan.

That is the cruelest cut of this whole storyline. She walked into the Genoa City Athletic Club on Wednesday’s episode and sat down with the one man she thought was still her friend, and that man had already been briefed on how she is going to prison.

Did Daniel Disown His Mother?

Yes, Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) has fully disowned his mother. On the March 31 episode, he read the scathing letter his sister Summer sent from Milan, the one saying she never wants to see their mother again, and then told her flatly, “We aren’t a family anymore.” On April 13, the redhead tried to buy him back with an entire division of Summers Conglomerate. Daniel‘s answer? “Until you give the business back to its rightful owners, we have nothing to talk about.”

He meant it. Summer meant it. Our resident schemer is on an island and the tide is coming in.

Why Is Cane Done With Her?

Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) is done because she drugged him, stole the company out from under him, and then had the nerve to try to seduce him into a comeback. On April 8, Cane told her flat out, “The damage is done.” He is not coming back to the bedroom and he is not coming back to the boardroom. He is pivoting toward Lily Winters, who is drowning in the Malcolm Winters bone marrow crisis, and Cane is suddenly remembering that once upon a time he was a husband and a father before he was a con artist.

Phyllis Summers tried to use sex as a negotiating tool and it backfired spectacularly.

What Is Victor’s AI Trap?

Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is using a new AI program to generate fake emails and communications between her, Cane, and Billy that will implicate all three in illegal activity surrounding the Newman Enterprises takeover. He briefed Victoria and Michael on the plan Tuesday at the ranch. Michael warned Victor that he could lose control of the AI. Victor did not care.

The poetic cruelty of this? She used an AI-assisted corporate heist to steal Newman Enterprises back in February. Now Victor is using AI to take it back AND put her in handcuffs. Christine Blair was just offered the DA job. Connect the dots.

What’s Next for Phyllis Summers?

Could this mean she’s about to be arrested? Don’t be surprised if Friday’s cliffhanger ends with Christine taking the DA role and opening a file with her name on it. Given Victor‘s track record, if he says he’s putting you in prison, you should probably start picking out an orange jumpsuit.

My gut tells me Phyllis Summers takes Victor‘s “offer she can’t refuse” on Friday, hands back Newman Enterprises, and STILL gets double-crossed. Because that is exactly what Victor does. This has all the makings of a summer arrest arc that could finally humble the unhumblable.
