VICTOR NEWMAN’S EMPIRE WIN HIDES A BRUTAL BETRAYAL BY HIS OWN SON

TL;DR: On Thursday’s Y&R, Nick cuts a secret deal with DA Christine Blair to protect Phyllis SummersVictor Newman reclaims Newman Enterprises, and Victor still refuses to admit the evidence was faked.

What Happens Between Victor Newman and Nick Newman on Y&R?

Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) has officially gone rogue against his own father. Fresh off his terrifying ordeal in Las Vegas with Matt Clark (Roger Howarth), Nick quietly cut a deal with Genoa City District Attorney Christine Blair (Lauralee Bell) to shield his ex-wife Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) from prison. The catch is a big one. Nick promised to prove that the damning emails used to arrest Phyllis were completely fake. That puts him on a direct collision course with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), who never signed off on a single word of it. For Nick, who is still picking up the pieces after a near-fatal overdose, this is personal. He knows firsthand what it feels like to be cornered with nowhere to turn, and he refuses to let Phyllis rot in a cell for a crime built on lies.

Here is the part that has Victor seeing red. Nick went behind his back, and not for the first time. When Nick admits he offered to expose the fabricated evidence to ChristineVictor snaps back with an icy demand to know why his son would do such a thing. To Victor, protecting Phyllis means torching the entire plan he and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) built to take back the company. For a man who values family loyalty above all else, watching his own son work with the woman who stole his empire is a wound that cuts deep. Victor spent weeks plotting every move with surgical precision, and now the one person he expected to have his back is the one handing the enemy a lifeline.

Does Victor Newman Get Newman Enterprises Back?

Yes, the Newmans reclaim Newman Enterprises this week. After months of watching Phyllis run the company as her rebranded Summers Conglomerate, the tide finally turns in the family’s favor. Phyllis tells her attorney Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) that she is ready to hand the empire back. But the win is soaked in betrayal, because Nick got there by quietly working with the district attorney instead of standing beside his father. The Newmans toast their victory with champagne, yet the cracks in the family are already showing.

When PhyllisMichaelNick, and Christine corner Victor at the ranch, Phyllis begs him to come clean and tell Christine he set her up. Victor flat out refuses to confess. Instead, he only agrees to provide the evidence proving the emails were faked after he gets his company back. Christine is not impressed by the stalling, and she walks out refusing to drop the charges on the spot. That means Phyllis is far from off the hook, even with the empire returned.

What’s Next for Victor Newman and Nick Newman on Y&R?

Could this be the rift that finally breaks the Newman men for good? Given Victor Newman‘s long history of cutting down anyone who dares to cross him, do not be surprised if he makes Nick pay for siding with Phyllis. Something tells us Victor will not soon forget that his son chose his ex-wife over the family empire. And with Christine still refusing to drop those charges, this war may be far from over for everyone involved. Don’t be surprised if Phyllis uses what she knows about the faked evidence as leverage, turning the tables on the very family that tried to bury her.

Meanwhile, Victor has even bigger storms brewing at home. His marriage to Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) is hanging by a thread after he handed her a brutal ultimatum to choose between him and Jack. If we know these writers, Victor Newman is about to learn that winning back the company means very little if he loses his family in the process. One thing is certain. Victor Newman got his empire back, but the real cost may turn out to be the trust of the son who once stood right beside him.
