The Young and the Restless
Is Jill Abbott Dying on Y&R? What Jill’s Cardiac Event Means for Billy
Is Jill Abbott dying on Young and the Restless? Snapper calls it a cardiac event on Billy’s wedding day, and it could pull Billy from Sally.
SNAPPER CALLS IT A CARDIAC EVENT, AND NOBODY TELLS BILLY HOW BAD IT IS FOR JILL ABBOTT
TL;DR: Nothing that has aired or been announced says Jill Abbott is dying. On Monday’s Young and the Restless, her brother Snapper tells Billy and Cane she had a cardiac event, and Billy’s question about whether she’s okay goes unanswered. Billy leaving Sally is only chatter so far, and CBS keeps him with his bride through Thursday.
Snapper Calls Billy and Cane With News About Jill’s Heart
Is Jill Abbott dying? That’s the question Billy Abbott is left holding at his own wedding. On Monday’s Young and the Restless, which aired Friday in Canada, Billy gets a call from his uncle Snapper and pulls Cane Ashby onto a three-way call in the lobby. Snapper tells them Jill had a cardiac event. Billy asks if his mom is okay, and Monday leaves that hanging.
Upstairs at the same party, Sally Spectra‘s water breaks while Adam Newman is alone with her, a scene we broke down on Friday. Billy doesn’t know yet. So the second question writes itself: does Billy leave his new wife to go to his mother? Nothing official says he does.
CBS says that on Tuesday, October 20, “Cane shares distressing news with Billy” while friends and family are still celebrating. Wednesday reads “Sally and Billy meet their first challenge as a married couple,” and on Thursday, “Billy makes a promise to Sally.” Keep our two weeks of Young and the Restless spoilers handy as the reception rolls into Tuesday.

Jill Abbott Survived a Heart Attack in 2017, and Billy Got Her Help
This isn’t the first time Jill’s heart has scared her son. On Wednesday, February 15, 2017, after Colin Atkinson, her husband at the time, drained her accounts, Jill slapped him, and Billy told her she had to go to the hospital. The next day a doctor told her she had heart disease, that two stents had been placed, and that the incident could have been fatal. Billy turned on Colin: “My mother had a heart attack because of you!”
The show built that story with the American Heart Association, and Jess Walton taped a public service message for CBS. In May 2024, Jill told Billy her heart was racing and she felt lightheaded, adding, “There are some complications, Billy.” Her brother Snapper, a doctor, was treating her in London.
That November, selling Chancellor, she said, “My own body has betrayed me.” In January 2026, Snapper’s word was that she had “taken a turn for the worse.”

Snapper Kept Jill Home From the Wedding for New Tests
This summer, Jill told Billy she wasn’t sure how much longer she’d be around and asked him to come to London. On Tuesday, October 13, she told him she couldn’t make the wedding, because Snapper advised her not to travel until she gets her newest test results. Billy’s worry: “What if this is serious?”
On Friday, October 16, Jill’s half-sister Lauren Fenmore told the guests Jill wasn’t coming because of a medical issue. Jason Thompson, who plays Billy, had already warned that “there’s something pretty serious that goes down with Jill” and “it throws everything into the blender.” We flagged that tease when we looked at how Jill could shatter Billy and Sally’s wedding.
So how bad is it? Snapper’s words are the only medical facts we have, and they come from her brother and her doctor, which makes them hard to shrug off. My gut tells me Cane’s Tuesday news could be the first real answer.

Does Billy Abbott leave Sally to be with Jill on Young and the Restless?
Not in anything confirmed. Talk of Billy flying to London and missing his baby’s birth is circulating spoiler chatter, not a CBS listing. Wednesday’s “first challenge as a married couple” could be the Jill dilemma itself, and if I know these writers, Thursday’s promise is either that he isn’t going anywhere or that he’ll come right back. On Friday, October 23, “Lauren makes a change in plans to help a family member in need,” and CBS doesn’t say who.
The last time one of Billy’s children arrived in a crisis, on April 9, 2012, it was Adam in a cabin delivering Johnny Abbott, not Billy. Line up the dates and the pattern is hard to miss. In 2017 Billy was at Jill Abbott’s hospital bedside, and in May 2024 and again this January the news about her health came by phone. Now it reaches him by phone at his own wedding, while his wife’s water breaks upstairs.
The Show Says It Hopes to See Jess Walton Back in Genoa City
Fans have been asking whether this is Jess Walton’s farewell, and nothing says it is. On Thursday, October 15, the show’s official account answered fans who missed Jill at the wedding, saying it hopes “to see her in Genoa City soon.” No exit has been announced. Walton debuted as Jill Abbott on June 19, 1987, and Josh Griffith, head writer at the time, called her 40th anniversary in 2027 “a milestone that we will definitely recognize.” We asked on October 7 whether Jill was poised to take her final bow, and the record still says no.

Billy Abbott’s Place Is With Sally, Even With Jill’s Heart Calling
Billy was the son at the hospital bedside in 2017. This time he’s the son on the phone, with his bride’s water broken upstairs. I’m betting he stays for the baby and Lauren goes for Jill.
