Billy Abbott Packs for London and Leaves His Heart at Home

This Y&R Canadian Day-Ahead opens in a house where the suitcase is ready and the man who packed it is not. Billy Abbott can barely tear himself away from Sally Spectra and Baby Ruby, and watching him struggle to leave is a new look for a man who has stormed out of so many rooms. Sally has to be the grown-up, assuring him they will be fine and that he needs to be with his mom.

Jack Abbott arrives to meet his brand-new niece and fusses over her until Sally carries the baby off to show the rest of the Spectras. Alone with his brother, Billy admits his bags are packed for London and that he is reluctant to leave for any reason. Jack tells him going is the right thing, because he doesnโ€™t want Billy to regret not taking action. It takes Jack about a minute to get through to him, which for the Abbott brothers is a speed record.

After Jack leaves, Billy tells his bride he doesnโ€™t want to go. Sally assures him things will still be chaotic when he gets back. She is not wrong. She is married to him.

Michael Baldwin and Lauren Fenmore arrive to pick him up, and Billy kisses his wife goodbye as the two of them congratulate Sally. His ride to the airport comes with an aunt and an uncle, so the pep talks about Jill Abbott are already built in.

Once they are gone, Nick Newman stops by to see the baby and declares her beautiful, which is the only correct review. He and Sally chat about Billy and Jill, and then Nick wonders how weird it must have been to have Adam Newmandeliver the baby. Sally says Adam was strong, but she worries about all the feelings the night may have stirred up in him. Nick admits you never know whatโ€™s going on in his brotherโ€™s head, then tells Sally motherhood agrees with her. She says he looks okay, he says heโ€™s feeling okay, and they agree itโ€™s a whole new world. Reading Adamโ€™s mind is a skill nobody in the Newman family has mastered, and they have had decades to practice.

Victor Newman Compliments One Son and Interrogates the Other

At the ranch, Victor Newman tells Nick heโ€™s proud of his work and glad to have him back. It is a rare moment of unfiltered affection, and it lasts exactly until Adam walks through the door. Victor tells him heโ€™s a hero and amazing, which makes two compliments in one afternoon, a record for the Newman ranch.

Adam admits it was an intense day, and Victor is sure delivering the baby wasnโ€™t emotionally easy for him. Adam insists heโ€™s fine and asks everyone to stop asking about it, so naturally his father asks again. Victor reminds him he lost a baby and is sure this brought it all back. Adam admits it did, but says it was still incredible.

Victor wonders how Chelsea Lawson feels about all of this, and Adam gets defensive. His father reminds him of his past with Chelsea and Sally. Nick doubts Chelsea can put things in neat boxes the way his brother does, and Adam suggests Nick has been spending too much time in therapy. He insists he and Chelsea are thrilled and thatโ€™s the end of it. Nothing says โ€œthrilledโ€ like slamming the door on the conversation.

Lauren Fenmore Feels Terrible About Her Timing

At the Athletic Club, Lauren meets with Phyllis Summers and says she feels terrible about the timing of her trip. Phyllis assures her thereโ€™s nothing to feel bad about.

Lauren spoke to Snapper this morning, and it looks like Jill is in shape for surgery. Everyone is flying in for it. Phyllis is sure a brand-new grandchild will give Jill a reason to fight, and she admits that she and Jill donโ€™t like each other, but they have a lot in common and she wants her to pull through. The two of them agreeing on anything is the surest sign of how serious this is.

Phyllis, whose mind never leaves the office, decides Arabesqueโ€™s new slogan should be โ€œMake every moment count.โ€ She assures Lauren that she and Daniel Romalotti can take care of things while Lauren is away. Then Michael arrives, and Phyllis leaves the couple to it. Michael assures Lauren that she and her sister are โ€œtough old birdsโ€ and that Jill will be back to bossing everyone around in no time. Only a man married to a Fenmore would dare say that out loud.

Kyle Abbott Needs a Reason to Fly

At Crimson Lights, Kyle Abbott meets Victoria Newman and tells her sheโ€™s looking good. They talk about their after-wedding party, and he leads her out to the patio for a kiss. She canโ€™t believe he did that in public. Kyle has always had a flair for living dangerously, usually within thirty feet of her father.

He asks about London, and they agree he will slip away to see her there. Victoria thinks inviting him onto the Newman jet would be far too risky, though he would love to join the mile high club with her. Kyle promises to come up with a reason to fly, and Victoria looks forward to the day they can relax in public. She has a deal to close, he has an excuse to invent, and the airline industry has no idea whatโ€™s coming.

They kiss again and head back inside, where they run into Phyllis, who wants to know why they were together. They say a lot happened yesterday. Phyllis is glad it all happened at her club. She informs them that Billy is headed for London on the Abbott jet, brags about the party sheโ€™s planning for Arabesque, and tells them both to get a date. Kyle and Victoria already have a date. It is not the kind you bring to a party.

After Kyle leaves, Victor joins his daughter to discuss her trip. Billy, Michael, and Lauren file in, and Victor pays his condolences for Jill. Billy is surprised there are no side remarks. They file out, and Victor points out to Victoria that they might all run into each other in London. Victoria will be thrilled, given who else is planning to run into her there.

Audra Charles Calls It Weird, and Chelsea Calls It Beautiful

Over at Society, Audra Charles tells Chelsea itโ€™s weird that she and Adam went to see Sally, Billy, and the baby. โ€œItโ€™s not weird!โ€ Chelsea objects. Audra tells her to chill and reminds her of all the craziness. Chelsea snaps that Adam bringing a child into the world was beautiful and tells Audra to focus on that instead of the crazy stuff. Audra has a gift for finding the one splinter in any sentimental moment.

Audra suggests they go back to leading separate lives and stop forcing themselves to get along. Chelsea may think Audra is a โ€œbitch,โ€ but she admires how loyal she is to Sally, so she thinks they should be friends. She enjoys the truth and hates how much she hurt Sally and Billy, though calling her visit weird was unkind. Audra wonโ€™t vet her words, and Chelsea asks her to stop throwing her biggest mistake in her face. Nothing builds a friendship like honesty delivered with a mallet.

They order muffins, which is how every difficult conversation in Genoa City should end. Adam arrives, and Audra thanks him for helping Sally. He nods, which may be the smartest strategy available at that table. They toast to worry, and Adam admits seeing the two of them together will be hard to get used to. Audra jokes about what will happen when Sally has to choose godparents. Somebody is going to lose that competition.

Then Phyllis pops up and asks Adam if he has heard from Matt Clark. He says they all hope they never see him again. In Genoa City, that is the most dangerous wish a person can make.

Kyle Abbott Is Suddenly Very Interested in an Acquisition

At the Abbott estate, Kyle stops by and Jack shows him a picture of Ruby. Kyle explains he needs to head off to look into an acquisition, which strikes Jack as sudden. Kyle says he wants to see if itโ€™s worth the hype. Jack has run a company for years, and he knows a thin excuse when he hears one.

Once heโ€™s alone, Kyle texts Victoria to say heโ€™s ready to go. The only thing Kyle seems to be acquiring is the reason to fly he promised her.

Should Billy have stayed home with his newborn, or is boarding that plane the right call? Tell us in the comments below.

Billy Abbott Boards the Jet With His Heart in Two Places

Billy leaves a wife and a newborn behind to board the Abbott jet, and he is far from the only one in Genoa City with a reservation for London. Between a surgery, a secret, a deal, and one very suspicious acquisition, this may be the most crowded flight of the season.
