BILLY AND CANE BREATHE EASIER IN THIS Y&R CANADIAN DAY-AHEAD
TL;DR: Billy Abbott and Cane Ashby finally breathe easier about Jill Abbott in this Y&R Canadian Day-Ahead, Kyle Abbott dives for cover while Victoria Newman fibs, Phyllis Summers and Sharon Newman form an unlikely alliance against Nick Newman’s silence, and Adam Newman cannot let go of Ruby. Want the bigger picture? Our Y&R spoilers for the next two weeks have it all.

Billy Abbott and Cane Ashby Hear That Jill Abbott Is Stable (Jill Not Included)
This Y&R Canadian Day-Ahead opens with the news everyone crossed an ocean for. Billy Abbott and Cane Ashbyfind out that Jill Abbott is stable. The surgery saved her life, the road to recovery will be a long one, and for the first time since that phone call at the reception, the family gets to breathe. Billy reports that Jill seemed happy to see him, and she is doing well enough that he feels comfortable heading home to his wife and baby. He is sure he and Jill have time to work things out. He is so relieved that he walks over to Victoria Newman’s suite without calling first, which is the one thing she asked him to do. She has a Kyle Abbott-shaped reason to wish he had.
Cane, meanwhile, makes a call of his own to Lily Winters to pass along the same good news, and he tells her he is coming home. It is a sweet moment, and it is exactly the kind of moment that makes the next part so frustrating.
Because now we need to talk about the elephant in the waiting room. This entire storyline is about Jill. The cardiac event, the surgery, the phone call in the middle of a wedding reception, the mad dash to London: all Jill, all the time. So would someone like to explain why we do not get a single scene with her in this episode? Not a glimpse. Not a wave. Not so much as her name on a clipboard. We sent half of Genoa City across the Atlantic to be with Jill, and the show treated her like a rumor. Billy gives updates like a weather forecast, Cane delivers his by phone, and the most important woman in the story gets discussed by everyone and seen by no one. What was the point of sending everybody to London if the person they flew there to see never gets to say hello? Genuinely asking.
How many more people have to board a plane to London before Jill Abbott gets a single line of dialogue? Email your theories to amber@soapoperamagazine.com. The more dramatic, the better.

Phyllis Summers and Sharon Newman Form the Unlikeliest Task Force in Genoa City
Phyllis Summers grills Nick Newman and Sharon Newman about Matt Clark at Crimson Lights and gets two completely different answers, which tells her everything and nothing at once. Nick storms out. Sharon stays put and informs Phyllis that Nick will not tell her where Matt is, so he is clearly hiding something, and the two of them should get the truth out of him together. Phyllis would rather move on. Sharon does not buy that for one second, and Phyllis accuses her of trying to make her feel bad. Somewhere a barista is writing down the date: Phyllis and Sharon on the same side of a booth.
Phyllis insists Matt walked away and so did she. It is done, and he is gone. She did call him after the crash and begged him to get in touch, and he never did. Phyllis knows Matt came back, and Sharon explains that he is not at the clinic she arranged. She worries Nick took matters into his own hands. In the corner booth, Sharon wonders whether Matt has been stashed somewhere, recaps how much Nick hated the idea of her being Matt’s therapist, and admits she confronted Nick about Matt never checking in. She also fears the stress has clouded his judgment. Phyllis asks the question nobody wants to say out loud: does Sharon think Nick killed Matt? Sharon refuses to go there. The comment section, however, has no such restraint.
Phyllis doubts that pressuring Nick will work, and she confesses she is terrified of getting pulled back in. Matt leaving hurt her, and she fears the man Sharon and Nick always talk about is back, which is exactly why she needs to let go. Sharon is sorry she is in so much pain. Phyllis says she is fine, since Daniel Romalotti is by her side and Summer Newman could forgive her eventually. Fine is doing a lot of work in that sentence. Sharon urges her not to downplay what she had with Matt, and Phyllis admits she only wanted to be a better person and hopes he is okay. They both agree on one thing: Nick has to tell them what he did.

Kyle Abbott Hides, Victoria Newman Fibs, and Billy Abbott Gets Warm
Back in London, Kyle brings Victoria coffee and scones and asks how she is feeling after her nightmare about Billy catching them. She is tempted to go to Paris with him, but she thinks it could be tempting fate. Fate answers with a knock on the door. Billy is back, Kyle hides, and Victoria opens up and calmly reminds him that he was supposed to call.
Once Billy has shared the good news and thanked her for listening, he asks when she is headed back to town. She does not know. On his way out, he asks if she knew his nephew was in London. Victoria acts surprised with the confidence of a woman who rehearsed in the mirror, and Billy decides Kyle must be there on her account before he starts talking about Vibrante. Victoria assures him she is not there about anything involving Vibrante. Technically, that is not a lie. Technically. Billy is relieved and leaves.
Kyle comes out of hiding and Victoria recaps what Billy almost saw. They worry Billy could be connecting the dots, and they admit this is getting stressful and complicated instead of fun. Kyle holds her and asks whether it might be time to end it. Paris, apparently, is a lot less romantic when you have to explain it to your ex.

Nate Hastings Gets His Scrubs Back and Stephanie Simmons Gets a Hand Kiss
Over at Society, Nate Hastings, Dr. Stephanie Simmons, Abby Winters, Devon Winters, and Lily gather to celebrate Nate’s change of careers. Nate thinks it is all a little premature. They toast him anyway, and the table gushes about all the state-of-the-art equipment the hospital got after he left. Stephanie says the whole staff is thrilled to have him back, and Nate says none of it would be happening without her. He will have to ease back into surgery and get recertified. Then he kisses Stephanie’s hand, and everyone else at the table pulls the exact same face.
They gab about how skilled and empathetic Nate is and the future he has ahead of him. Abby remembers that Stephanie was friends with Nate’s mother for many years, and everyone else suddenly changes the subject. When the meal ends and Nate and Stephanie leave, Abby asks why nobody told her those two were a thing. She is happy for them. The group wonders whether it is a conflict of interest for him to be dating his new boss, then dismisses the thought faster than HR would.
The conversation turns to Jill stabilizing, and Devon notices how distracted his sister has been. Lily admits she misses Cane, and to her surprise, Devon says he gets it. He has realized life is too short to hang on to grudges, and if she and Cane love each other, he is okay with that. She hugs him, and then her phone lights up. It is Cane, with the same good news about Jill and a plane ticket home. Lily thinks that is amazing, and he cannot wait to see her.

Adam Newman Cannot Let It Go
At the GCAC, Nick joins Adam Newman, who wonders whether Matt has been locked away somewhere and hopes he rots there. Then Adam moves on to what is really on his mind. He tells Nick he feels a connection to Ruby and a need to protect her. Nick assures him the baby is in good hands, but Adam is not so sure after hearing that Billy took off for London. Nick reminds him that Billy’s mother was dying.
Adam says he worries Sally Spectra is a little lost as a new mom, and that he showed her how to burp the baby. Nick wonders whether that made things awkward, and Adam does not think so. Nick urges his brother not to go looking for trouble. He is proud of what Adam did, but it is time to let this go. It is advice Adam has been hearing from a lot of people lately.
