The Girl Who Poisoned the Newmans Is Scared of Herself
The latest Young and the Restless spoilers put Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) and her dark side back on the table, and she put it there herself. On the September 22 episode, a birthday alert for the late Jordan Howard (Colleen Zenk) lit up her phone. Claire told her mother, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), that she was a really awful person back then and that she fears the darkness could creep back in. Victoria hugged her, called her a child under Jordan’s roof, then went right back to lying to her.
That lie is the story. Victoria has been sleeping with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), Claire’s ex, since the Jabot office on August 27. Claire does not know. Nobody does, except now Matt Clark (Roger Howarth), who watched Kyle leave a motel room on Thursday’s episode and said nothing.
That speech was no accident. A soap does not let a redeemed villain say she fears her old self three days before her mother’s affair picks up a witness unless somebody is loading a gun. Fans who follow this kind of setup know the pattern. First she names the fear. Then the show hands her a reason.

Every Dark Thing Claire Has Already Done
Claire arrived in Genoa City in October 2023 as Claire Grace, her great-aunt Jordan’s weapon against a family she never knew was hers. By November the Newmans were drugged at an Oregon lake house. Claire handed over the antidote, turned herself in, went into psychiatric treatment, and on December 26, 2023, held a gun on Jordan to save her grandmother, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott).
Then came January 2025. With Jordan loose again, Claire spiked her tea with crushed sleeping pills. Jordan drank it knowingly rather than go back into Victor Newman‘s (Eric Braeden) custody, and she died on the January 24, 2025 episode with Claire holding her hand. Nobody charged her. Nobody ever said whether that was mercy or the old Claire in a nicer coat.
Kyle knows all of it. He moved Claire Newman into his home in April 2025, right as Victor cut a deal with Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) to break them up. He proposed on September 1, 2025, she said no, and she ended it for good on September 29. Now Kyle is slipping in and out of a motel with her mother, and the only Newman vouching for him is Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), who told Kyle this week Victoria would never give him the time of day.
Is Claire Newman Going Bad Again on The Young and the Restless?
Not on screen, and not in any published spoiler through the first week of October. What has aired is Claire naming the fear, Victoria brushing it aside, and Matt Clark becoming the first witness. Nikki has been suspicious of her daughter since September 21 but has no name. On Thursday’s episode Claire pushed Victoria to date again and swore she was over Kyle. Victoria texted Kyle and went straight to the motel.
Here is the piece nobody is connecting. New co-head writers Jamey Giddens and Dan O’Connor have no scripted episode on air until November 11, so everything through the October wedding is still the outgoing regime’s material. If Claire blows up in October, the old team lit the fuse on its way out. If Claire goes truly dark, a slow burn that turns a hurt daughter into her great-aunt’s heir, that story belongs to the new team.
How the Old Claire Could Walk Right Back In
My gut tells me Claire Newman does not hear it from Victoria. She finds out sideways. Matt Clark holds a sighting he can trade, and Victor is already circling him. Nikki is one careless text from a name. And that October wedding puts every Newman and Abbott in one room with an open bar.
If I know these writers, the setup allows for three roads. Claire Newman the survivor confronts her mother, cries, and forgives. Claire the Newman goes to war the Victor way, cold and corporate, with Vibrante and Jabot as the battlefield. Or the girl Jordan raised comes home, the one who watched the Newmans drink and did not blink. Don’t be surprised if the show teases that third road and swerves, but she said it herself, and the darkness is still in there.

Claire Newman Deserves the Truth Before She Finds It Herself
Victoria had two clean chances this week to tell her daughter the truth, once with Claire crying in her arms and once with Claire begging her to find some happiness. She took the motel key both times. That is a mother choosing Kyle over the kid who just said she is scared of herself.
