Will Spencer is done letting his mother run his love life, and he’s made that crystal clear. When Katie Logan declared that Melissa Dylan wasn’t “Spencer material,” he shook his head at her dramatics and invited his girlfriend to Logan anyway. When Katie called Dylan a rebound and forbade the whole romance, Will told her she was starting to sound like Stephanie Forrester, then reminded her that she didn’t exactly start out rich either.

Katie’s big plan is backfiring in real time. She keeps pushing Electra Forrester as the girl her son should be with, and Will keeps reminding her how many times Electra walked out on him. Meanwhile, Dylan is setting his clocks ahead so they can stay in bed longer, and he’s cheerfully showing up late to Katie’s meetings. “You’re my girl, Dylan.” That’s not a rebound talking. That’s a man who’s already picked a side.

And nothing makes a Spencer man dig in harder than being told no.

What Happens In Vegas Comes Home With A Ring

Picture it. Will and Dylan escape L.A. for a music festival in Las Vegas, some sun, some music, a little breathing room from Katie’s lectures. One drink turns into five. Somewhere between the neon and the dance floor, somebody says, “What if we got married?” and nobody says no.

Next thing you know, they’re stumbling into a wedding chapel and trading vows in front of an Elvis impersonator. It’s tacky, it’s reckless and it’s perfect, because it’s the one thing Katie can’t plan, veto or talk to death.

The next morning, instead of panicking, they look at the rings, look at each other and shrug. Why not? Dylan already told Will she’d never walk out on him, and he’s had enough of women who do. For a girl who was happy with no labels, “wife” suddenly sounds pretty great. YOLO.

Katie’s Worst Nightmare Walks In Wearing A Ring

The honeymoon lasts exactly as long as the drive home. The second Katie spots that ring on Dylan’s finger, she goes nuclear. She’ll demand an annulment on the spot, call it a drunken mistake and probably hire a lawyer before anyone’s unpacked a suitcase.

Here’s the delicious irony. Katie was so worried about Dylan getting pregnant to trap her son that she actually told him she hoped he was using protection. Nobody trapped Will Spencer. He walked down that aisle with his eyes wide open, or at least half open. And he’s a grown man. If he wants to play house, Katie can scream until she’s hoarse, but she doesn’t get a vote.

She also doesn’t get to act shocked. This is the woman who told Will that she and her sisters were raised with morals, while he pointed out she’s turning into the Forrester matriarch who made the Logans’ lives miserable. Nothing proves him right faster than Katie storming a newlywed couple’s front door.

That Ring Isn’t Coming Off Anytime Soon

Katie’s biggest miscalculation? Thinking Dylan will fold. This is a girl who has been dying for Katie’s approval, and who has already survived Katie’s worst insults. Her mother, Darcy Dylan, spent years reading about the Spencers from the outside, and now her daughter is legally one of them. Darcy would frame that marriage license.

Dylan isn’t about to hand back her ring because her new mother-in-law threw a tantrum. If anything, Katie’s meltdown will make her hold on tighter. Katie keeps telling anyone who’ll listen that Dylan isn’t good enough for Will Spencer. Now she has to explain why he married her anyway.

Katie wanted to protect her son from a girl she thought was chasing his last name. Instead, she pushed him straight into giving it to her.
