The timing matters because two timelines are in play. On screen, Sarper and Shekinah recommitted at the end of Season 3 of The Last Resort. In real life, Sarper says they’ve been separated since early 2026. Shekinah still sees herself as married, and she has spent the last two weeks saying his comedy is exactly what went wrong.
Sarper Guven Goes Out as “A Single Comedian on Tour”
The post is a straight ticket push, and the billing is the headline. Sarper is no longer selling himself as half of a TLC couple. He’s selling himself as single, on the road and ready to talk about it on stage.
The tour doesn’t slow down, either. Ticket listings show him at Helium Comedy Club in Buffalo, New York on Sept. 30, then Funny Bone in Richmond, Virginia on Oct. 7. From there he heads through Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Austin, Houston and El Paso in October, then San Jose, Ontario, St. Louis and Indianapolis in November. December stops include Alpharetta, Nashville and Orlando, and the run wraps in Levittown, New York on Dec. 20.
How the Last Resort Tell All Set the Stage
Sarper showed up to the Season 3 Tell All alone. In Part 1, which aired Sept. 21 on TLC, he confirmed the couple is separated and held up a hand with no wedding ring. He also claimed Shekinah had asked for one more thing on her way out: “$50,000 in cash. Emotional damage.” That’s his account. Shekinah wasn’t there to answer it.
Part 2, the season finale, aired Sept. 28. TLC’s description promised that “Sarper reveals the reason for the downfall of his marriage with Shekinah,” and outlets reported that he called himself the “full package” while defending how he handled the marriage. For a man who recommitted in the regular season finale, it was quite a turn.
Shekinah Garner Says the Comedy Was the Problem
This is where the new tour label hits hardest. Before either Tell All part aired, Shekinah went after Sarper’s motives on Instagram. “I learned last night that you only recommitted that day because you felt pity for me,” she wrote, adding, “The Last Resort was a promo for your comedy career, not an attempt to save our marriage.”
She doubled down in a longer statement on Sept. 22. “I can’t imagine taking my marriage, something I saw as sacred, and making it the punchline of a comedy routine,” Shekinah wrote. “The laughs of strangers would never be more important to me than protecting the dignity of the person I married.”
Sarper has pushed back. After Shekinah claimed his act was using personal material about her, he answered in an Instagram Story he later deleted: “She wants attention. I’ve already removed almost everything about her from my routine…I only have 2-3 jokes left about her, and she already knows exactly what they are.”
Are Sarper and Shekinah Separated, Single or Still Married?
It depends on who you ask. Sarper’s Sept. 22 statement put it plainly: “We have been separated for at least eight months since the beginning of 2026, and neither of us sees ourselves as married anymore.” He added, “In my heart and in my mind, I am SINGLE now.”
Shekinah didn’t accept that framing. “I don’t like having him speak on my behalf and say that ‘neither of us sees ourselves as married anymore,’ because that isn’t how I feel,” she said. “I still see myself as married because I am.”
Legally, she has a point. No divorce filing has been confirmed. So for now the most accurate label is separated, even if Sarper’s tour poster says single.
As for skipping the Tell All, Shekinah gave her own reason: “my mental health is more valuable than the opinions of the other cast.”
What Happens Next for Sarper Guven and Shekinah Garner
The big question is whether Shekinah turns up in Sarper’s act again. He says only a couple of jokes about her are left. With a new label on the ticket push and a two-month club run ahead, fans will be watching to see whether the “single” material stays about him or drifts back toward her.
Then there’s the franchise. Shekinah has said she’s done with TLC. Sarper hasn’t said anything like that, and a newly single comedian with a following is exactly the kind of cast member a spinoff wants. Whether either of them files for divorce, and when, is the other thing to watch.
The Verdict
Announcing a split is news. Putting it on your ticket push a week later is a choice, and it’s the one choice that hands Shekinah her strongest argument. She has said all along that The Last Resort was a promo for his comedy, and “A Single Comedian on Tour” won’t quiet that. To be fair to Sarper, he says the jokes about her are almost gone, and building a career out of his own life is what comedians do. But if he wants fans to believe the recommitment was real, rebranding around the breakup seven days later is a strange way to show it.
