Is the 90 Day Fiance divorce already off? In September, Ashley Michelle told husband Manuel Velez on Instagram, “Do not come back to this house.” Now 90 Day Fiance Ashley and Manuel watchers think he may have done exactly that, and the only evidence is a black cat and a carpet.

For anyone checking the status first: nothing is confirmed. Ashley asked for a divorce on Sept. 7, 2026, no court filing has been reported, and neither of them has said a word about getting back together. Everything below the split is fan chatter, so read it with one eyebrow raised.

What Ashley Said in September

Ashley didn’t whisper it. “What a shame, tomorrow is our 4 year anniversary and I’m officially asking for a divorce,” she wrote, tagging Manuel. “I have felt unsupported by you for years and now when I am in my most vulnerable state you have done NOTHING [to] support me. I am DONE.” She said she was recovering from surgery earlier that month and felt he hadn’t been there for her.

Manuel kept it short. The next day he posted from outdoors in Rochester, New York, with a caption that read, “While others want to make statements, I just want peace and quiet.” Ashley later added, “I’m just processing right now. It’s a shame that I had to put our relationship on blast.”

The Black Cat That Started the Rumor

According to the fan news site Celebs Vulture, Manuel’s Instagram Stories in the week after the post suggested he was staying on friends’ couches. Then came a recent Story of his feet with a black cat. Fans say the cat “looks remarkably similar to Ashley’s black cat,” and that the carpet “appears to match the carpet seen in one of Ashley’s recent Stories.”

Here’s the part the 90 Day Fiance Ashley and Manuel rumor mill skips. This isn’t two matching posts from both of them. It’s one Story from Manuel, compared by fans to an older Story from Ashley. Black cats and carpets are not exactly rare, so this is a clue, not a confession.

How Ashley and Manuel Got Here

Their story started long before TLC found them. Ashley and Manuel met in Ecuador in 2010, when she was studying marine biology, and reconnected about ten years later. Manuel came to New York on a K-1 visa in 2022, and they married in Florida that September.

Fans watched the cracks form on 90 Day Fiance Season 10 and Happily Ever After? Season 8. They fought over money, over what he sent home to family in Ecuador, and over his discomfort with her spiritual work. As recently as May 2026, Ashley was still shutting down split talk with a simple message: “Yes, we’re still married.”

Are Ashley and Manuel Still Together?

Officially, no. The last word from either of them is Ashley’s Sept. 7 post asking for a divorce. As CinemaBlend pointed out at the time, a social media announcement isn’t the same as a court filing, and no filing has been reported since.

That leaves the 90 Day Fiance Ashley and Manuel story in limbo. They’re still legally married as far as anyone has shown, she’s asked for a divorce, and fans think he might be sleeping under her roof again. Until one of them says it, the honest answer is that nobody outside that house knows.

What Fans Think Happens Next

One camp thinks the cat says it all: they talked, he came home, and the divorce is on ice. Another camp, also per Celebs Vulture, thinks the whole saga is a setup for 90 Day: The Last Resort Season 4. TLC hasn’t announced that season or its cast, so file that one under pure theory.

Don’t be surprised if the next clue comes from Ashley. She went public with the split, and if Manuel is back, my gut tells me she’ll be the one to say so. Reading between the lines, a quiet couple photo would tell fans more than any carpet.

A Black Cat Is Not a Reconciliation

Sleuthing a carpet is half the fun of being a 90 Day Fiance Ashley and Manuel fan, but it isn’t proof. Ashley made her feelings very public, and a pet cameo doesn’t undo “I am DONE.” If they’re working it out, good for them. If he’s just visiting the cat, that’s a story too.
