Friday, October 2: Sonny Is Crushed, and He Didn’t Do It
The General Hospital spoilers October 2 brings are brutal for Sonny Corinthos. By Friday, Sonny is crushed. Here’s the twist that makes it sting: on Wednesday, viewers learned he never ordered the Pentonville attack. Ava Jerome and Drew Cain set it up and let Sonny take the blame.
Sonny had sent his man Vito to Pentonville with orders to keep Jenz Sidwell safe, and Drew paid Vito to deliver a beating instead. When Curtis Ashford got hurt stepping in, Ava snapped, “This is not how it was supposed to go down, Drew.” When Drew blamed her, she reminded him he was on board too: “you and I are in this together.” Drew even sees an upside, because the police will believe Curtis over Sidwell.
Then they cleaned up. Ava and Drew told Vito that if he wants the rest of his money, he has to disappear. “Nobody in Port Charles is ever going to hear from me again,” Vito promised. Thursday, October 1: Dante Doesn’t Buy It
None of that helps Sonny yet, because nobody he loves knows it. On Thursday, Dante Falconeri confronts his father over the attack. Sonny denies it and insists he was set up, but Dante doesn’t seem to believe him. Worse, Dante accuses his father of not respecting him enough to tell the truth.
Dante’s case rests on two things. Curtis told police the attackers said Sonny sent them, and Tuesday’s visiting-room footage put Vito together with Sully, Sonny’s inside man at Pentonville, before the beating. You can see how that tape landed in our Tuesday recap. The cruel joke is that Vito, the visitor on that tape, is the man Drew paid, and as of Wednesday night he’s leaving town.
Who Framed Sonny for the Pentonville Attack on General Hospital?
Ava and Drew did, and Wednesday’s episode made it official. Drew paid Vito to turn Sonny’s protection errand into a beating, so every road would lead back to Sonny. Ava even told Drew it seemed like everything was going according to plan, right before she learned Curtis was hurt. We raised that possibility on September 27.
The frame is nasty because it fits. Sonny Corinthos has said all along that he wanted Sidwell protected, because any attack would make him look guilty. Ava and Drew counted on exactly that. The only witness who can blow it open is a teenager, and the man she would have to expose is her father.
Justine Wants Sonny to Look Her in the Eye
Justine Turner is secretly seeing Sonny Corinthos, and this week she summons him to the apartment above Charlie’s Pub. “I want you to look me in the eye when you tell me if you were behind it,” she tells him. Sonny looks stunned.
Justine was the one person on the case who gave Sonny the benefit of the doubt. On Tuesday she told Dante that Curtis “could have heard what he expected to hear,” and then the footage left her dumbfounded. Their secret romance already puts her DA campaign at risk. Jordan Ashford caught them kissing on September 22, and Jordan is now furious at Sonny over Curtis.
Spoiler chatter says Justine dumps Sonny, and that would explain Friday. My gut tells me Jordan is the push. One word from her about Curtis, and Justine’s career and heart both tell her to run. If she does, Sonny loses the woman who doubted the case against him first.
Port Charles Is Lining Up Against Sonny
Justine isn’t the only threat. Curtis refused when Ric Lansing asked him to take back his statement, telling Ric that Sonny could “take his regrets straight to hell.” On Wednesday, Jordan pushed to move Curtis somewhere Sonny can’t reach him. On Thursday, Trina Robinson tells Gio Palmieri that his grandfather is the reason her father is in the hospital.
Sonny already sees it coming. On Wednesday he said he told Dante and the people he cares about that he was getting out of this life, “and now they are going to look at me like I’m a liar.” That fear is the real setup. Ava and Drew didn’t need to put Sonny Corinthos in a cell. They only needed the people he loves to stop believing him.
