The Young and the Restless
A Daytime Legend Is Coming Home, a Kidnapper Is Still Loose, and This Week’s Comings and Goings Across All Five Soaps Are a Lot to Handle
Returns, recasts, and a kidnapper still terrorizing his captives — this week’s daytime comings and goings are not slowing down for anyone.

A LEGEND RETURNS, A RECAST STEPS IN, AND SOMEONE IN SALEM IS STILL VERY MUCH TRAPPED. THIS WEEK’S COMINGS AND GOINGS ARE LOADED.
TL;DR: Shemar Moore is coming home to The Young and the Restless with Vivica A. Fox on his arm, a temporary recast shakes things up on General Hospital, Owen Kent is still terrorizing Salem on Days of Our Lives, Beyond the Gates keeps its rotating cast of chaos in motion, and The Bold and the Beautiful has a quiet week on the arrivals front.
The Young and the Restless: A Legend and His Leading Lady
The biggest comings and goings news this week belongs to The Young and the Restless and it is not subtle. Shemar Moore is coming home to Genoa City as Malcolm Winters, and this is not a one-day pop-in. Moore originally played Malcolm from 1995 to 2005, returning sporadically over the years, with his most recent appearance during Y&R’s 50th anniversary in 2023. He has already begun filming a multi-episode arc as Lily Winters’ biological father, and Christel Khalil shared a behind-the-scenes photo of his first day back on set. The man. The legend. The cheekbones. He is back.
Joining him is Vivica A. Fox, returning as Dr. Stephanie Simmons. Fox briefly played Stephanie from 1994 to 1995, when her character dated Malcolm. According to an official release, Malcolm and Stephanie’s return will have shocking and lasting implications for the residents of Genoa City. When a show puts those words in a press release, you sit up straight and pay attention.
This is the Y&R homecoming fans have been waiting for. What do you think Malcolm and Stephanie’s return means for Lily and the rest of Genoa City? Send your wildest theories to [email protected] — we may feature your take!
General Hospital: A Temporary Recast and a Quartermaine Moment
General Hospital has a quick but notable casting note this week. Patrick Scott Lewis steps into the recurring role of Congressman Ezra Boyle on Monday, March 2, subbing for Daniel Cosgrove, who was unable to get to Los Angeles after East Coast storms grounded his flight. Lewis previously appeared on the show in 2024 as Mr. Thomas, interacting with Kai Taylor and Trina Robinson. The recast is temporary.
Wally Kurth is back as Ned Quartermaine, sharing powerful scenes with Josh Swickard’s Chase on Monday, March 2. Whatever Chase promised Ned he would fix, it sounds like that conversation is happening this week.
Days of Our Lives: Owen Kent Is Still Very Much a Problem
Days of Our Lives has one major presence dominating the comings and goings this week, and it is Wes Ramsey as Owen Kent. Ramsey resurrected a Salem character he had not played in sixteen years, returning to hold Stephanie Johnson and Jeremy Horton hostage. Owen previously abducted Stephanie back in 2009, and history is repeating itself in the worst possible way. The stint is short-term, but the damage will not be.
It’s time to say goodbye to everyone’s favorite diabolical daughter. Alice Halsey is vacating the role of Rachel Black on March 5th. There is no word on whether or not the character is being recast as of yet.
Richard Wharton gets significant screen time as Dr. Wilhelm Rolf across multiple days this week, appearing Monday with Owen, Tuesday opposite EJ DiMera and Gwen Rizczech, and Friday alongside EJ and Paulina Price. Whatever Rolf is cooking up in that lab, it is touching multiple storylines at once.
Wally Kurth also crosses over to Salem this week as Justin Kiriakis, showing up Tuesday to console his onscreen son Alex Kiriakis. And Tina Huang pops in as Melinda Trask on Thursday, trying to get through to Sophia Choi. Good luck with that.
The Bold and the Beautiful: No New Arrivals, But Forrester Creations Was Busy Last Week
No new casting is coming to The Bold and the Beautiful this week, but worth noting from last week — Savannah Leigh James returned as Forrester Creations receptionist Jamie, and Jade Coatsworth came back as intern Kingsley, both appearing in the Tuesday episode alongside RJ Forrester and Carter Walton. Los Angeles may be quiet on the arrivals front this week, but the drama at Forrester certainly is not.
Beyond the Gates: The Rotating Cast of Chaos
Beyond the Gates keeps its usual strong rotation moving this week. Iona Morris Jackson appeared as Dr. Monica McCormick, the oncologist friend of Smitty and Martin who gave Naomi Hamilton Hawthorne some much-needed perspective. And Jahmone Duhaney played the unhoused man Lynette Wise tried to pin the blame on for Hayley Lawson’s mugging. Lynette doing Lynette things.
Thursday, March 5 brings more from two of the show’s recurring players as Maurice P. Kerry’s Randy has some choice words for his cousin Hayley, and Ben Gavin’s Derek finds himself caught directly in the middle of Leslie Thomas and Vanessa McBride. Nobody warned Derek that the middle is the most dangerous place to be on this show.

WATCH THIS: Speaking of the DAYS kidnapper…
@soapoperamag Everyone is SO sure it's Jeremy… Julie's devastated. Steve's on a warpath. JJ's searching the cabin. But the episode literally ended with "Jeremy didn't do it." What if Salem's destroying an innocent man while the REAL stalker watches them scramble? That's terrifying. #DAYS ♬ original sound – Soap Opera Magazine
