Patty Williams Is Coming Back and Nobody Is Safe

Lock the doors. Hide the stuffed cats. Genoa City’s most deliciously dangerous woman is coming home.

TV Insider reports exclusively that three-time Daytime Emmy nominee Stacy Haiduk will reprise her role as Patty Williams on The Young and the Restless beginning in March — a full decade after her last appearance on the CBS soap. Haiduk will continue pulling double duty as Kristen DiMera on Days of Our Lives, a role she has played since 2018.

Executive producer and head writer Josh Griffith told TV Insider: “Everyone at Y&R couldn’t be more excited to welcome back Stacy for this exciting storyline when trouble once again finds Patty.”

Trouble finds Patty? Respectfully, Josh — trouble does not find Patty Williams. Patty IS the trouble. And she has decades of receipts to prove it.

A History of Absolute Chaos

For the uninitiated — and honestly, even for those of you who have been watching since 1980 — Patty Williams’ rap sheet reads like a fever dream written by someone who was told to include everything.

Patty was introduced as the sweet younger sister of Paul Williams, and she fell hard for Jack Abbott. Jack married her to convince his father he had cleaned up his act. When Patty discovered his affair with Diane Jenkins and overheard him admit the entire marriage was a career move, she shot Jack Abbott three times and left town.

That was just the beginning.

The Mary Jane Benson Era Was Cinema

Patty returned in 2009 courtesy of none other than Victor Newman, who financed her plastic surgery and sent her into Jabot disguised as a woman named Mary Jane Benson as part of a revenge plot against Jack. She rekindled things with Jack — who had no idea he was falling for the woman who had already shot him — and confided all of her secrets to a stuffed cat named Mr. Kitty.

When Patty discovered Jack was involved with Phyllis Summers and learned that Phyllis’ daughter Summer Newman had a peanut allergy, she deliberately triggered a reaction that put the girl in a coma. She then kidnapped Colleen Carlton at Camp Cheveyo, shot Victor Newman three times, and went on the run. Colleen was declared brain dead, and her heart was donated to Victor — saving the life of the man who unleashed Patty on all of them in the first place.

She Married Jack Disguised as His Fiancée

If you thought that was the peak, you were wrong. Patty’s plastic surgery had been modeled after Dr. Emily Peterson, a psychiatrist who happened to be her exact physical double. When Jack fell in love with Emily and proposed, Patty knocked Emily unconscious, switched places with her, and walked down the aisle. Jack said “I do” to Patty thinking she was Emily. When the real Emily tried to prove her identity, Paul assumed his own sister was the delusional one.

Patty eventually drugged Emily and stashed her in a morgue drawer. Jack found Emily just in time and had a doctor revive her with a shot of adrenaline. Emily dumped Jack for not realizing he had been sleeping with the wrong woman for months. Honestly? Fair.

She Shot Jack Again — At His Next Wedding

Because Patty Williams does not believe in letting Jack Abbott marry anyone who is not her, she returned in 2011 disguised as a housekeeper named Myrna Murdock, working in the home of Jack’s new fiancée Genevieve Atkinson. She drugged Jack and Genevieve at Thanksgiving dinner so she could kiss an unconscious Jack. When Adam Newman discovered her and tried to stop her from crashing the wedding, she threw insecticide in his face — blinding him — and hit him over the head.

At the wedding, Patty took Genevieve’s place, walked down the aisle, and when Jack lifted the veil? Patty revealed herself and shot him. Again. At the altar.

Her last storyline in 2015 saw her escape from Fairview, survive an explosion, and flee with fellow agent of chaos Ian Ward before being institutionalized yet again.

So What Brings Her Back This Time?

Details are being kept under wraps, but with Ian Ward currently terrorizing Genoa City and Patty’s history of latching onto the men who have wronged her, the possibilities are endless — and terrifying. Jack Abbott might want to invest in a bulletproof vest. Adam Newman should probably check his eyes are still working. And everyone else should remember one simple rule: when Patty Williams comes to town, nobody gets out clean.
