Steve explained how the certificate reached him, then offered the one step that settles it: find Dominic Marino and run a DNA test. Marlena did admit one thing that stuck. Dominic’s age, she said, lined up with the years she spent on Stefano’s island.

That is not a small detail. Stefano held Marlena on that island from 1987 until 1991, the missing years when Salem believed she was dead. The show has now tied Dominic’s age to that stretch in her own words, and it has not said what that means.

Paulina Price asked Theo Carver to meet, and he half expected a lecture about the moment she walked in on him and Stephanie. Instead she wanted to know why he quit DiMera. Johnny would do anything to protect his father, Theo said, and he could not stand it anymore. Paulina invited him and Abe Carver to Chanel’s baby shower.

Stephanie Johnson had her own rough day. Alex would not let her help with a crying Kelsey, saying they could not risk anything legally where Kelsey and Joy are concerned. She told Kayla she nearly kissed Theo, and later she and Theo laughed it off in the square as a mistake that will not happen again. My gut tells me that promise is made to be broken.
