CASE CLOSED, FAVORS OWED! Is GH’s Monet Mitchell Winning Curtis Ashford’s Freedom For Somebody Else’s Reasons?
GH’s Monet Mitchell keeps winning for Curtis Ashford, but every good break seems to run past Alexis Davis first. Who is she really working for?
MONET MITCHELL KEEPS CALLING ALEXIS WITH GOOD NEWS
TL;DR: GH’s Monet Mitchell is building Curtis Ashford’s way out of prison one friendly interview at a time, and every big win seems to run past Alexis Davis first.

Good News Comes With A Receipt
Monet Mitchell is Curtis Ashford’s lawyer, and she has a funny habit of ending her best days with a phone call to somebody who is not Curtis. The night she charmed Portia Robinson and Isaiah Gannon into a glowing interview, she barely cleared the front door before ringing Alexis Davis to report she got exactly what she wanted. Whose wanting that was is the whole question.
Portia agreed to call Curtis a hero and say her son needs him, with one condition: Curtis stops giving Isaiah pushback. Monet said yes on his behalf without blinking. Isaiah, for the record, did not trust her an inch, and he has a point. A lawyer who promises her client’s good behavior to a stranger is either very confident or answering to someone else.

Alexis Is In Every Room
Here is the common thread. Alexis calls Curtis a good friend and wants to see him appeal, then tells Monet not to get his hopes up. Alexis hears that Monet plans to take Drew Cain up on his help, calls it a gamble, and says do it anyway. Alexis also tried to talk Monet out of taking Willow Tait as a client, and Monet had to ask Willow why. The answer was a sticky situation between Drew and Alexis.
Monet Mitchell is now juggling Curtis’s appeal, Willow’s libel suit and the divorce of Chase, all out of one firm, and the person who already weighed in on at least one of those jobs is not a client in any of them.
The Phone Call Nobody Named
When Monet told Curtis he was going back to Pentonville, she called it an advantage for the appeal because it makes him more sympathetic. Keep your head down, she said. Then Drew offered to call a reporter at The Banner, and Monet stepped out to take a phone call while Curtis told Drew he would play the PR game to get home to his son. The recap never says who was on the line.
It was not the first time she had steered the plan. Weeks earlier she told Curtis she wanted a public relations win before she filed his appeal, and he suggested Drew while warning that Drew could screw her over. She heard the warning, kept the plan, and moved on to the next call.
The next day Drew was working on Portia, and Curtis agreed to work with the former friend who may be tangled up in his attack. Curtis’s freedom is being built out of the people he has hurt, and Monet is holding the blueprints.
Encouraging News, Whose Terms?
Think about what Monet Mitchell is actually selling. A freed client is the headline, but the interviews, the sympathy and the Pentonville transfer all pull people toward the same finish line, and nobody has asked who drew it.
Wednesday’s spoiler says Monet has encouraging news for Curtis. Thursday’s says Alexis pushes back, without saying against whom. Tuesday has Portia livid, and Wednesday has Jordan Ashford facing a setback, which matters because Monet told Portia she is doing all of this for her half-sister. If the news is real, why does Alexis push back? If it is not, who is she pushing?

Whose Errand Is This?
Monet Mitchell may be telling Curtis the truth, and he may really walk out. But a win can be exactly what the client needs and still be only the part of somebody else’s plan that happens to fit. Who is collecting the favor when the gates open? And does Curtis find out what it cost before or after he signs for it?
