BILLY ABBOTT ISN’T READY TO TAKE JACK’S START-UP MONEY, AND JACK WONDERS IF HE’S PLOTTING A NEW WAR ON CHANCELLOR

TL;DR: Young and the Restless spoilers: Billy Abbott tells Jack on Tuesday that he isn’t ready to rush into work, putting off the start-up money he said yes to in September. Jack fears the real reason is Chancellor, and Billy’s own words give him cause.

Billy Puts Off Jack’s Start-Up Money on Tuesday

It’s confirmed: Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) isn’t ready to take the start-up money Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) offered him, and on Tuesday, November 3, Jack starts to wonder if Chancellor is the real reason. Tuesday’s hour already aired in Canada, and our Young and the Restless spoilers have the scene. Billy says he has a lot going on. Jack hears something else.

At Billy and Sally’s apartment, Billy says his mother, Jill Abbott (Jess Walton), is improving in London, but he couldn’t settle anything serious with her. Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) arrives and fusses over baby Ruby. Then Billy mentions he ran into Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) in London. Jack is surprised, since Kyle told him Paris, and he says the trip had to do with a new luxury skin care product.

Then Jack asks about the future. He means the start-up capital he offered Billy to found his own company. Billy says there’s a lot going on right now, he isn’t ready to rush into work, and he’ll come back to Jack once he has something concrete. Jack worries his brother is just shutting him down, maybe because he’s planning to go after Chancellor again. Billy asks Jack to tell Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) he has to take care of something, and he’s gone.

Billy Put an End Date on His Chancellor Truce

Jack’s worry has a paper trail. Since August, Billy has claimed the Abbotts own Chancellor through a decades-old unpaid loan from his late father, John, to Phillip Chancellor II. Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) fired him over it on August 17. On September 2, Billy agreed to put the fight on hold until after the baby was born, and he told Lily and Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) they could keep Chancellor without mentioning that the hold was temporary.

Six days later, Billy told Jack exactly where things stood. He had walked away “Until after the baby’s born.” Jack wanted it over for good, warned him the fixation would bring him down, and offered to bankroll a company of Billy’s choosing. On September 10, Billy walked into Jabot and said yes, and Jack was thrilled.

Ruby arrived on October 20. Two weeks later, the start-up hasn’t started and Billy wants more time. That’s the math Jack is doing.

Is Billy Abbott Going After Chancellor Again on Young and the Restless?

Not on screen, at least not yet. Nothing aired or announced has Billy Abbott making a move on Chancellor since he said yes to Jack’s money, and Jack’s fear is still only Jack’s. But Billy put an end date on his truce, and that date has come and gone. Back on September 8 he also told Jack that Chancellor was his vision and that he wanted to prove the doubters wrong.

There’s a mirror in Tuesday’s scene, too. Billy is sure Kyle is hiding something about that trip, and in London he even wondered to Cane whether Kyle could be sabotaging Vibrante. Now Jack is sure Billy is hiding something about his plans. This week the Abbotts don’t trust each other’s trips or each other’s business.

When we asked in September whether Jack was backing Billy or enabling him, one reader wrote, “Doesn’t matter. Billy won’t take it because he’s obsessed with Chancellor.” Billy took it five days later, but that obsession is exactly what Jack fears now.

Young and the Restless spoilers, Billy Abbott walks in on Adam Newman to talk about Ruby

Billy’s Next Stop Is Adam’s House, Not Chancellor

The next time we see Billy on Tuesday, he walks uninvited into the home of Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) to talk about Ruby, and our Canadian day-ahead has the whole hour. CBS says that on Wednesday, “Billy creates boundaries between Adam and Sally,” and on Friday, “Billy loses patience with Adam.” Thursday belongs to Jack, who “backs Kyle into a corner.”

Sally is worried too, but about Billy’s mother. She asks Jack whether Billy brought up the seed money, and she admits she’s afraid Billy’s intense talks with Jill could cost Jill her life. And the old loan behind Billy’s Chancellor claim is the secret he believes Jill kept, so any new war runs straight through his mother.

New co-head writers Jamey Giddens and Dan O’Connor have their first episode on Wednesday, November 11. If Billy Abbott hasn’t touched the start-up by then, Chancellor is waiting for them on day one. My read: Billy fights Adam first, and Chancellor waits its turn.

Jack Has Reason to Worry, but Billy’s Fight This Week Is With Adam

Billy tied his truce to the baby, the baby is here, and Jack’s money is still sitting there untouched. Jack isn’t being paranoid. But wanting Chancellor and fighting for it are two different things, and on Tuesday the next door Billy Abbott walks through is Adam’s.

Is Billy plotting a new war on Chancellor, or just buying time with a newborn? Come argue it out with us on our Facebook page.
