The Young and the Restless
ROUND TWO! Is Y&R’s Diane Jenkins Recruiting Lily Winters For Her Rematch With Nikki Newman?
Young and the Restless: Diane Jenkins pitches Lily Winters a once in a lifetime proposition while Nikki Newman sets up a big rematch.
DIANE JENKINS WANTS LILY WINTERS ON HER SIDE FIRST
TL;DR: Y&R’s Diane has a once in a lifetime proposition for Lily Winters, Nikki Newman is setting the stage for a competition, and a reunion hosted by Diane could double as a lineup of everyone who stood by the river the night she supposedly died.

A Coffee Date Nobody Saw Coming
Diane Jenkins has never bought anyone a latte out of kindness, so the sight of her sharing a table at Crimson Lights with Lily Winters should send the whole town hunting for the exits. Cane Ashby walks in, takes one look, and admits he had no idea these two were coffee pals. Lily’s answer is the most honest line in town: “Yes, it’s definitely a first.” Diane doesn’t flinch. She says she asked Lily to meet because she wants to present her with a “once in a lifetime proposition,” which is exactly what people say right before somebody signs something they regret.
The real question is why Lily, and the answer fits on a business card. Lily is the CEO of Winters now, which means a company, a checkbook, and the authority to hand out a pink slip over lunch at Society. She has also schemed with a Newman before, back when she served as Victor Newman’s secret partner against Cane. A woman who has plotted with Victor knows what a proposition smells like, and Diane knows she knows.
Imagine the pitch. Diane sets down her cup, leans across the table, and promises Lily a front row seat to the rematch of the century. Imagine Cane standing there with his coffee, realizing he walked in on a meeting he was never invited to. His timing is spectacular.

A Competition With A Dangerous Scoreboard
Anyone who thinks a competition between Diane and Nikki Newman will be a friendly bake sale has not read the file. Nikki is setting the stage for a competition with Diane, and nobody has said what the contest is, only that sharp objects should be kept out of reach. Between these two, the file includes thrown wine, a boardroom catfight, a syringe, and a rock. Nikki won with the rock, and the judge ruled self-defense, which makes her the reigning champion by a landslide.
That is exactly why Diane would want a rematch. A woman who comes back from the dead does not accept the result of Round One, she treats it as a scheduling conflict. Lily is the missing piece, because a CEO with a company is far more useful in a feud than a plus-one. Is it possible the proposition is really an invitation to pick a side?

A Reunion With A Familiar Guest List
The reunion is the part that should keep Victor up at night. Diane Jenkins hosts a reunion, and nobody has said whose, which leaves plenty of room for a guest list that reads like a lineup of suspects from the river night.
The last time Diane summoned a crowd, she texted everyone to meet her at a river, and Jack Abbott, Adam Newman, Phyllis Summers, and Ashley Abbott each had their own reasons for turning up alongside Victor. Phyllis alone left behind a chipped nail that became evidence. The night ended with Diane presumed dead and Nikki holding the rock, which is a very full evening for one riverbank.
Imagine the seating chart. Nikki at one end of the table, Phyllis at the other with a fresh manicure, Victor refusing the appetizers on principle, Adam checking the exits. A reunion hosted by Diane Jenkins is a trap with canapés until proven otherwise. Could the competition Nikki is planning and the reunion Diane is hosting turn out to be the same event?

Who Gets The Last Seat At The Table?
Lily has a proposition on the table, Nikki has a competition on the calendar, and Diane Jenkins has a guest list that reads like a grand jury. The only person who looks relaxed is Diane, which is the least relaxing thing about all of it. Does Lily say yes to a partner whose last round ended with a rock? Does Nikki show up with a strategy or a casserole? And if every old enemy ends up under one roof, who is brave enough to eat the cake?
