DEVON WINTERS LEFT GENOA CITY WORRIED, AND LESLIE THOMAS IS WAITING IN THE STUDIO

TL;DR: It is confirmed: Devon Winters and Leslie Thomas are both at the Articulettes’ recording session on Wednesday, November 4. On Y&R, Devon left town worried about trouble in Fairmont Crest. Here is why every eye is on Leslie.

Devon and Leslie Share the Studio Wednesday

It is confirmed: Devon Winters (Bryton James) and Leslie Thomas (Trisha Mann-Grant) are both in the recording studio on Wednesday, November 4, when the Articulettes cut their tribute to Barbara Mitchell. The listing says Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) is ready to record, Leslie “plans to pipe up,” and Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis) greets Devon and his sister, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil). A CBS photo from the session puts Bryton James and Trisha Mann-Grant in the same frame.

So here is the question hanging over the Beyond the Gates spoilers this week. Does the producer clash with the woman who controls Barbara’s voice? Nobody has confirmed a fight. But Devon packed his bags on The Young and the Restless already worried about Fairmont Crest.

What Devon Told Abby Before He Left Genoa City

On Tuesday’s Y&R, Devon sat down with his wife, Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway), and told her he and Lily were heading to Maryland. He said he would not be surprised if more storms were brewing in Fairmont Crest, and he brought up some recording artist drama that had him concerned. Abby assured him he could handle the difficult people.

Notice what is missing: a name. In the scene as it has been reported, Devon never names the problem. One fan recap says he meant Leslie and hoped she would not stir up more trouble, and one spoiler writer called it worry over her meddling. Neither line comes from his actual dialogue, so treat Leslie as the smart guess, not a quote.

Abby was dizzy and queasy during the talk, and Devon offered to cancel the trip. She refused and sent him on his way. So he walks into that studio wanting it done fast and clean, which is not a great mood to bring around Leslie.

Is Leslie the storm Devon saw coming, or is he walking in with the wrong idea? Write to the editor at amber@soapoperamagazine.com and tell us who he should be worried about.

Why Leslie Is the Obvious Suspect

Go back to September 2. Tracy Tyler (Maria Howell) and Sharon Winger (Bonita Brisker) passed along word from their producer, Devon Winters, that the album needed Leslie’s permission to use Barbara’s archived vocals. Leslie is Barbara’s daughter and heir, and she named her price: a seat at the sessions and a great big producer credit.

On September 16, Leslie rescheduled the session without asking Anita, Tracy or Sharon, and made a point of saying she had gone straight to Devon. Anita reminded her that all she was allowed to do was observe. Then on October 30, Leslie threatened to pull her permission for Barbara’s voice if Anita gave her attitude about staying quiet, before she apologized and promised to cooperate.

Here is the part nobody else is pointing out. Until now, Devon has dealt with Leslie from a distance: through Tracy and Sharon, through a phone call, through a schedule change she pulled behind Anita’s back. We have found no aired scene that puts the two face to face in this storyline before Wednesday. The producer Leslie used to go around Anita is about to watch her test the silence rule up close.

Do Devon and Leslie Clash at the Articulettes Session on Beyond the Gates?

Nothing confirmed says they clash. One preview writer openly wonders whether the two of them get into it at the studio, and two other previews expect bumps with Leslie along for the ride.

My gut says the fireworks belong to Leslie, and Devon gets pulled in as the referee. He holds the label and the schedule, and she holds Barbara’s voice. If she pipes up in the middle of a take, Devon Winters is the one person in that room who can tell her a deal is a deal, and maybe the one person she will hear it from, since she already went to him over Anita once.

Lily, Neil and the News the Winters Siblings Bring

Lily is the fan in the room, on her first trip to Fairmont Crest, and the episode honors their late father, Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John). Bryton James says Lily “grew up loving the Articulettes and begged Devon to bring her along.” For the backstory on the vocals, read how Leslie holds the rights to Barbara’s voice.

Devon and Lily also bring news of their own, still under wraps. If it touches the album, Leslie will want a say. Whatever it is, Devon Winters arrives already braced for weather.

And the drama may not end when the music stops. On Thursday, Eva Thomas (Ambyr Michelle) and Leslie get caught up in the moment, and Wednesday’s fallout could follow her there.

Devon Walks Into the Storm He Saw Coming

Our take: Devon did not sign up for Leslie. But he named the storm before he ever got on the plane, and the only person in Fairmont Crest who fits that forecast is the woman with the permission slip. I expect Leslie to pipe up, Devon to shut it down politely, and Anita to owe him a big thank you.
