LESLIE THOMAS OWNS BARBARA’S VOICE, AND WEDNESDAY TESTS HER PROMISE TO STAY QUIET

TL;DR: It is confirmed: Leslie Thomas is in the studio Wednesday, November 4, as the Articulettes record their tribute to her late mother, Barbara, with Devon and Lily Winters in the room. She holds the permission the record needs. Here is what she can demand, and what she already threatened.

Leslie Plans to Pipe Up at Wednesday’s Session

It is confirmed: Leslie Thomas (Trisha Mann-Grant) is in the recording studio on Wednesday, November 4, when Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) and the Articulettes cut the album that carries Barbara Mitchell‘s voice. Wednesday’s listing is short and loaded: Anita is ready to record, and Leslie “plans to pipe up.”

Barbara is the founding Articulette who was cast aside by the group’s manager, Dante Green, with Anita going along, and who later took her own life when Leslie was a toddler. Leslie learned in August 2025 that Barbara was her birth mother. That makes her Barbara’s heir, and it makes her the one person in Fairmont Crest who can say yes or no to the tribute.

What Leslie Thomas Owns, and What She Traded for It

Go back to September 2. The recording deal with producer Devon Winters (Bryton James) needed Leslie’s permission to put Barbara’s voice on the track. Leslie named her price: a seat in the sound booth and a producer credit, nice and big in the liner notes. Anita was furious.

On September 8, Anita gave in, with one condition of her own. Leslie gets the credit, but she sits in a chair and keeps quiet while the women sing. Tracy Tyler (Maria Howell) and Sharon Winger (Bonita Brisker) backed Leslie’s terms. On September 16, Leslie rescheduled the session through Devon behind everyone’s back, and Anita reminded her she was only allowed to observe, while promising not to shut her out.

So here is the honest rights sheet. Leslie Thomas controls Barbara’s recorded voice, and she holds the credit and the chair she bargained for. Nothing aired gives her a say over Anita, Tracy and Sharon’s own vocals, the songs or the arrangements. Some previews are calling her the sole heir with total legal control, but the contract itself has never been shown on screen.

The Threat Nobody Is Talking About

On October 28, Anita told Tracy and Sharon she is ready to get back in the studio, and they worried out loud about what Leslie might pull. Anita said the two had struck a deal. That deal got tested two days later.

On October 30, Anita laid out the ground rules again, and Leslie threatened to pull her permission for Barbara’s voice if Anita gave her attitude about staying quiet. Then she apologized and promised to cooperate, saying that hearing Barbara sing is the closest thing she will ever have to a relationship with her mother. None of the Wednesday previews brings that up. They should, because the woman who plans to pipe up has already said, out loud, that she can stop the record.

Does Leslie Sing on Barbara’s Articulettes Tribute on Beyond the Gates?

Nothing announced says she sings. The listing says she pipes up, and the Beyond the Gates spoilers tie that to her promise to give no notes during the recording. My gut tells me Wednesday is about her mouth, not her voice: a comment from the chair that breaks the deal in front of guests.

But the case for a song is real. On September 10, Anita played a tape of Barbara singing “Happy Birthday” to her at 17, and Eva Thomas (Ambyr Michelle) said her mother and Barbara sounded alike. Back on August 20, 2025, Leslie sang an Articulettes song while Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis) walked her out of the room. And Leslie Thomas told everyone her goal is for Eva to be proud of her grandmother being on the album. A daughter singing with her late mother’s voice would be the move of her life.

Devon and Lily Are the VIPs in the Room

The studio VIPs are Devon and his sister, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), crossing over from The Young and the Restless. On Tuesday’s episode Devon called Anita to say they arrive tomorrow for the session, and Vernon greets them Wednesday. It is Christel Khalil’s first trip to Fairmont Crest and Bryton James’s third. Read more on how the album honors Barbara.

Bryton James says Lily “grew up loving the Articulettes and begged Devon to bring her along.” The episode also honors their late father, Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John), and James says Anita “was his favorite artist.” Devon and Lily bring news of their own, still under wraps. If Leslie makes a scene, she makes it in front of a fan, a producer and a fresh Emmy winner, since Tamara Tunie took home Lead Actress on October 30.

Leslie Holds the One Key Anita Cannot Copy

Our take: Anita can find another producer and another studio, but she cannot find another Barbara. That is Leslie’s whole hand, and she already showed it on October 30. I expect her to pipe up, rattle the room and stop just short of yanking the track, because walking out would cost her the one thing she wants most: Eva hearing her grandmother sing.

So which is it, a song or a scene? Tell us whether Leslie earns her spot at that microphone on our Facebook page.
