Beyond the Gates Spoilers November 5: Andre Richardson Worries Dani Dupree Might Backtrack While Bill Hamilton Awaits a Paternity Test

The Backtrack Line Is Confirmed for Thursday

It is confirmed: on Thursday, November 5, Andre Richardson (Sean Freeman) worries that Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley) might backtrack. The Beyond the Gates spoilers stop right there, without saying on what. But the last thing Dani told her husband, on Monday’s episode, was that Hayley Lawson (Marquita Goings) and her baby will not come between them.

The same afternoon, Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett) makes an emotional admission to his daughter Naomi Hamilton Hawthorne (Arielle Prepetit). So the ex-husband Dani swore off and the husband she married both get a big moment on one day. Call it a tug of war.

What Dani Dupree Told Andre on November 2

Monday was the day a doctor confirmed Hayley’s pregnancy and Bill demanded a paternity test. After a family huddle with Andre and her daughters, Naomi and Chelsea Hamilton (RhonniRose Mantilla), Dani told Andre that Bill had confided his plan: nothing to do with the baby beyond paying for it. She doesn’t believe he can manage even that.

Then came the promise. Dani said she is tired of “the drama that comes with Bill” and will not let Hayley’s baby bump come between her and Andre. Read that twice. Bill confided in her, which means Dani and her ex-husband are still having the kind of private talks where he lays out his plans.

The Pull Toward Bill Runs Through a Paternity Test

On October 27, Dani told Bill to look forward, not back, and her father Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis) reported her vow to stop putting Bill’s issues ahead of Andre. On October 29, her mother Anita Dupree (Tamara Tunie) stopped her from calling Bill. On October 30, she told Anita and her sister Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson (Daphnee Duplaix) she is lucky to be married to Andre, then walked into Bill’s office and warned him that if the baby is his, he will love it and be tied to Hayley forever.

Nothing aired shows Andre learning about that office visit. Now Bill waits on a paternity test, with the blood carried to the lab by Shanice Johnson (Ernestine Johnson) and the results not back. A crisis that lands on Naomi and Chelsea is the hardest door for Dani to keep shut.

Will Dani Go Back to Bill on Beyond the Gates?

Not on anything aired or announced so far. No line says Dani leaves Andre or what she might backtrack on. Here is what the previews skipped: both halves of this marriage are sitting on a secret, hers about Bill and his about Heather. And the only person shown walking back a position on Hayley’s baby is Bill: on October 30 he wanted nothing to do with the child, and Hayley’s easy yes to Monday’s test left him far less sure.

Dani Dupree still has June 11 to answer for. During the tornado, she and Bill slept together in a stalled elevator, and as far as anything aired shows, Andre has no idea. So when Andre frets about a backtrack, he is worrying about a door his wife already walked through once.

The Pull the Other Way Is Heather Armstrong

Now flip the chart. On October 23, Andre admitted to his uncle, Dr. Ted Richardson (Keith D. Robinson), that he regrets his involvement with Heather Armstrong (Ashley Jones), this from the man who agreed with Dani on October 8 that some things are better kept under wraps. On October 27, Heather cornered him at Uptown, brought up their kiss and caressed his hand, and he pulled away. Nothing aired shows Dani knows.

Heather already has Dani at the top of her list, and on Friday, November 6, Heather has something major planned for her brother, Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom).

Tuesday to Friday Tightens the Rope

On Tuesday, November 3, Dani gets some disappointing news, while Anita and Vernon stand as a united front and Martin Richardson (Brandon Claybon) waits on Election Day. Thursday brings Andre’s worry and Bill’s admission. Friday, Dani’s intuition has her on edge, Naomi and Hayley trade barbs, and Caroline Lee (Ellie Wang) puts her foot down with Bill.

My gut tells me Thursday’s backtrack points at Bill. But if I know these writers, Dani Dupree’s intuition is the real twist. Head writer Michele Val Jean promised this fall that Dani would find “her marriage and herself in danger,” and that “Andre’s secrets will catch up to him in the worst way possible.” Could Friday’s nerves be about Heather, not Hayley?

Andre Is Worried About the Wrong Secret

Our take: Dani’s pull toward Bill is real, but it is a mother’s pull, and Hayley’s baby only makes it stronger. Andre has a right to worry. He just has the safer worry. A wife talking to her ex about a paternity test is a problem. A husband hiding a kiss from a woman the audience knows is The Impaler is a disaster with a date already circled.
