SOMEBODY’S NOT HOME! Will GH’s Drew Cain And Ava Jerome Dig Up Jack Brennan’s Grave And Find It Empty?
GH’s Drew Cain and Ava Jerome plan to move Jack Brennan’s body, but could the grave be empty? Port Charles has seen wilder things happen.
JACK BRENNAN COULD HAVE CLIMBED OUT OF HIS OWN GRAVE
TL;DR: GH’s Jack Brennan is supposed to be exactly where Drew and Ava left him, but the scariest thing they could find when they dig him up is a hole with nobody in it.

Moving A Body Is The Kind Of Safe Plan Nobody Should Trust
Jack Brennan is supposed to be the quietest man in Port Charles, and yet he is making more noise than anybody with a pulse. Drew Cain and Ava Jerome have run out of patience with hoping the problem fades, so the preview hands Ava the line that belongs on a throw pillow: “We’ve gotta move Brennan’s body.” Their theory is that a better-hidden grave beats a grave everyone is circling, which is the kind of logic that sounds brilliant right up until somebody has to carry the shovel.
The circling is real. Joe Fitzpatrick has been retracing Jack’s movements, has wondered out loud whether Brennan is still somewhere in Port Charles, and cornered Ava about the night he vanished. She turned cagey and left, which in interrogation terms is a confession wearing sunglasses. Joe also pitched all this as a way to help Nina Reeves, a very generous thing to say to the two people who know exactly who needs the help.

Digging Up A Body Is Harder Than Burying One
Anybody can bury a secret in the dark. Grabbing a shovel and digging it back up is a different job entirely, because now every set of headlights is a witness and every snapped twig is a cop. Ava is clearly feeling the pressure, and Drew, who not long ago told her the link to Jack Brennan would fade, is learning that a link doesn’t fade when somebody keeps tugging on it.
Imagine the two of them out there, sweaty, terrified, and arguing over who forgot the flashlight. They are risking everything to relocate a problem they have already buried once. If that sounds like the plot of a very bad group project, that’s because it is, only this group project comes with a prison sentence.

The Scariest Thing Might Be A Hole
Here is the twist that should keep Drew and Ava awake. They are so busy dreading the cops that they haven’t asked the question that matters: what is waiting in the grave? Is it possible that Jack went through the drowning, got buried alive, and clawed his way out of a shallow grave while two people who should know better were busy congratulating themselves?
The pieces are there if you squint. Joe thinks Jack Brennan could still be in Port Charles. Joe also says Jack claimed the WSB was involved, and William Baines is still investigating the disappearance. Nobody but Drew and Ava has laid eyes on that body since the burial.
Port Charles has never taken a funeral personally, and the town keeps a long tradition of the dead refusing to stay put. It already has a resident walking around under a borrowed name, so a dead man climbing out of a hole would barely make the neighborhood newsletter. Wilder things have happened here, and an empty grave would be the twist that keeps on giving: Drew and Ava lose their secret and gain a very angry, very alive witness with a long memory and a longer list of questions.

Some Secrets Refuse To Stay Buried
Drew and Ava think the hard part is the digging and the getting caught. If they open that grave and find nothing, the hard part is explaining why Jack Brennan is out there somewhere and unhappy. Could the shovel be the least of their problems?
