SOPHIA CHOI CALLED THE HELPLINE, AND HOLLY HEARD HER

TL;DR: Days of Our Lives spoilers: Sophia Choi is alive, and on Tuesday she called the helpline while Holly Jonas listened. Holly blamed it on “Sophia Brain,” and Kristen DiMera now has one loose end to tie up before she leaves town.

Holly Heard Sophia, and Talked Herself Out of It

Is Sophia alive on Days of Our Lives? Yes, and on Tuesday she nearly gave herself away. This week’s Days of Our Lives spoilers promised an unexpected helpline caller, and it was Sophia Choi. She reached Mason Whitfield while Holly Jonas sat on his bed listening, said her name was Amelia and swore they had never spoken.

She said she had seen her mother, felt some closure, and hung up. Holly said the caller sounded exactly like Sophia. Mason admitted he thought he heard Sophia in the park. Then the two of them called it “Sophia Brain” and went for coffee. The same day, Kristen DiMera, the woman who left Sophia for dead, said she has one loose end to tie up before she leaves town.

How Sophia Died, Except She Did Not

Our daily recaps have tracked every twist. On May 1, Kristen had Sophia throw her shoes in the water and leave her prints on the railing, then struck her with a rock and had her thrown in the river, staged as a suicide. Sophia’s note blamed Holly. Amy Choi pressed manslaughter charges that went nowhere, Mason blamed Holly’s words, and Holly and Tate Black have carried the guilt ever since.

The circle that knows the truth is tiny. Kristen found Sophia waiting tables as Amelia in Paducah, Kentucky, on October 9. A trucker named Marge had nursed her back to health. On October 20, Sophia revealed herself to her mother at her own grave, and Amy promised to keep the secret if Sophia got counseling. Reading between the lines, a call to a crisis line sounds a lot like a daughter keeping that promise.

Is Sophia Alive on Days of Our Lives?

Yes. Sophia Choi has been alive on screen since October 9 and back in Salem since October 16. Only Kristen and Amy have been shown knowing it. Holly and Mason heard her voice and did not believe their own ears.

Kristen Names One Loose End, but Not Which One

Also on Tuesday, Lani Price chased Kristen down in the square. Kristen told her the whole story, and Lani was horrified by Kristen’s murder attempts. Lani has not taken her oath yet, so she says she has no duty to report her. On Friday, October 30, the previews say Kristen ties up some loose ends, and this week’s preview photos put her in a Halloween mask.

Here is the catch. Nobody has said which loose end. Kristen did not name it, and no spoiler names Sophia. One columnist jumped to the obvious suspect and asked whether Kristen tries to kill Sophia again or simply pays her off. That is opinion, not a spoiler.

Why Sophia Still Frightens Kristen

Sophia Choi is the one witness who could sink Kristen, though not for the reason you might think. When Kristen found her, Sophia remembered almost everything about May 1 except the blow to her head, and she believes she slipped. What she does remember is how Kristen pushed her to go after Johnny DiMera. She threatened to tell the police and EJ unless Kristen paid the money she promised. Kristen agreed, and as far as the show has let us see, she has not paid.

Sophia has her own fear. She told Amy she is afraid of prison for attempted murder, after the fire she set at Johnny’s apartment in April. So both women need the secret kept. That is a fragile peace, and we caught up on how Kristen got here in our look at Kristen’s confession to Lani.

Three Ways Halloween Could Go

First, Kristen finally pays, and Sophia slips out of Salem with her secret and her money. Second, the loose end is not Sophia at all, and Kristen spends Friday on something closer to home. Third, Holly stops blaming Sophia Brain and starts asking questions, the one outcome Kristen cannot buy her way out of.

Holly’s clock is ticking too. Ashley Puzemis and Leo Howard were let go in January and have finished filming, and no exit date has been announced. The wider soap rumor mill guesses November. If Holly is on her way out, she deserves to leave knowing Sophia Choi is alive.

Holly Jonas Deserves the Truth Before Kristen Buys It

Our take: the helpline call was the show winking at us. Holly heard the voice, said the name out loud, and then let it go. That is how soap secrets die, slowly and then all at once.

We are betting Sophia keeps calling, because counseling was the price of her mother’s silence. Will Holly figure it out before Kristen ties up her loose end? Tell us on our Facebook page.
