Hayley’s Secret Escapes Garland Memorial

Hayley Lawson marched into Garland Memorial on Beyond the Gates to book an appointment, was told to use the portal she’d been fighting with, and then dropped the word “condition” and asked for an OBGYN. Leslie Thomas overheard every syllable. “I knew it!” she squealed, hugging her bestie while Ashley Morgan and Shanice Johnson watched, stunned. Leslie danced around announcing she was going to be an auntie, and Hayley, desperate for a moment to digest, all but shoved her onto the elevator.

Shanice booked the appointment and promised to stay quiet, then noted that Leslie might not make the same promise. Hayley grabbed a comment card to rave about how helpful the staff had been, which was either gratitude or insurance. Later, she phoned Randy Parker to say a clinic out of town had confirmed the pregnancy and that Leslie was a tattle risk. She needed to reach Bill Hamilton first and convince him she wanted to be part of the baby’s life. Randy thought she’d wanted to sell the kid, but Hayley liked her new plan better, and Randy agreed that Bill having to see her all the time would infuriate him more than any payoff.

Kat Drops the Baby Bomb

Over at Uptown, Tomas Navarro and Kat Richardson toasted their long night of work and his hope for a partnership, until Leslie strolled in and a delivery man arrived with a diaper cake. Kat leaped to the wrong conclusion that Eva Thomas was pregnant and texted Izaiah Hawthorne, who had to look up what a diaper cake was and denied everything. Tomas told her to go ask Leslie, who refused to name the mama, so Kat opened the card on the cake. “You have got to be kidding me,” she said.

She carried that news straight into Nicole Dupree Richardson’s house, where the ChelseaKat celebration was in full swing with Dani Dupree, Anita Dupree, Vanessa McBride, Madison Montgomery, Chelsea Hamilton, and Samantha Richardsonall there. Kat blurted that Hayley was pregnant, and the room went silent. Vanessa wondered whether that was why Bill never pressed charges, and Ashley, who’d arrived late and unsettled, confessed everything she’d heard from Leslie. Samantha left to find her friend, Dani reached for her phone to call Bill until Anita told her it was none of her business, and the ladies joked that the poisoning clearly hadn’t touched Bill’s little swimmers. Dani was annoyed the whole time.

Hayley Corners Bill

Before the gossip could reach him, Hayley showed up at Bill’s office, and he was irritated she’d gotten past the door. She wanted him to hear her joyous news: she was pregnant. Bill laughed, assuming it was another con, and when she invited him to feel her belly, he said he’d rather put his hands around her neck. She insisted she had proof and wanted both parents raising the child, planned to get a place near him, and handed him a card inviting him to her ultrasound tomorrow. Bill told her that even if she was pregnant, it didn’t mean the baby was his.

Smitty Steals the Fundraiser

Martin Richardson and Smitty planned their political fundraiser at home, with Shonda out sick and Kendra in charge. Samantha, with tablet in hand, didn’t want to go to the purse party, but Smitty insisted on going to support his husband, and Martin called him brave. At the Dupree estate, Anita and Vernon Dupree canoodled while he said Martin had doubts about being a candidate, and they toasted to giving Martin the same boost Vernon once gave Anita.

At the club, Kendra was surprised to see Smitty beside Martin while Anastasia and two other women whispered. Martin vowed nothing would ruin the night and gave his speech about his grandfather’s instincts before introducing Vernon. Outside, Anastasia griped to the concierge that Smitty should be locked up, and Smitty interrupted to say he hadn’t even been to trial, was innocent until proven guilty, and had been set up in Lia Whitmore’s death. He hoped she’d apologize when the truth came out. Kendra’s exit poll later showed Anastasia was donating after all, and the livestream numbers were positive. Anastasia was furious that her answers weren’t anonymous, and the men laughed.

Vanessa Corners Randy

Joey Armstrong welcomed Vanessa for a kiss, Randy walked in and walked out, and Joey called him back. Vanessa accused Randy of betraying Doug McBride and complained about Hayley poisoning Bill, and Randy lied that he hadn’t known. She left, and Joey later gave Randy a new assignment to look into Martin’s campaign. Randy reported lower-than-expected turnout, and Martin could kiss his seat goodbye. Joey said that didn’t work for him and wanted everything in place in case they needed it.

Elsewhere, Naomi Hamilton Hawthorne stormed into Bill’s office because the state’s attorney wouldn’t release the camera footage of Smitty meeting his source. Bill offered to call in a favor, but she’d already done it, and he reminded her she wasn’t him. She was offended. At Nicole’s party, she complained to Anita that her father had offered to help get the footage, and the two agreed it was a boys’ club thing. At the hospital, Kial Rollins told Shanice he wasn’t asking Nicole to marry him anytime soon.
