THE VOWS AND SNAPPER’S CALL ROCK THIS Y&R CANADIAN DAY-AHEAD

TL;DR: This Y&R Canadian Day-Ahead marches Billy Abbott and Sally Spectra through the vows of a lifetime, then rings the phone with a call from Snapper that drains the cheer right out of the reception. Along the way, Shirley Spectra puts the bride up for auction, Adam Newman drifts toward the bridal suite with zero sense of self-preservation, and Genoa City’s two least discreet secret-keepers cannot stop making eyes across the dance floor. Want the bigger picture? Our Y&R spoilers for the next two weeks have it all.

Billy Abbott and Sally Spectra Say “I Do” Before the Phone Rings

This Y&R Canadian Day-Ahead opens at the altar, where the light comes up in the back, the curtains part, and Sally Spectra is ready to make her entrance. Right as she’s about to float down the aisle, her Grams, Shirley Spectra, materializes like a sequined fairy godmother and walks the bride down herself. Shirley takes her place, Billy Abbotttells his bride she looks stunning, and for the first time in recorded history, the man has understated something.

Then the minister asks who gives this woman, and Shirley, with the timing of a vaudeville legend, shouts, “Depends on the price! He’s loaded.” Billy, who has paid for plenty of questionable decisions before, says they can work it out later, and Shirley graciously gives her blessing. Somewhere, the prenup he never signed is weeping into a legal pad.

The minister adds that his family has a history with the Abbotts, because his dad was close with Billy’s late father and he grew up hearing every Billy story ever told. That’s a lot of baggage to carry into a ceremony, yet the man proceeds anyway. Brave soul.

Sally goes first, and she feels like she’s in a dream. Tearing up, she admits life has rarely been this good to her, but she always knew she’d find a man who would love her with his whole heart. She thought she found him a few times, and at least one of those attempts is on the guest list, but every heartbreak walked her straight to her true north star. Billy grounds her when she’s a ball of emotions, she says, and always gives her what she needs, and she’s grateful to love a good man who is always up for an adventure. After the year she’s had, “adventure” is a gorgeous word for it.

Billy wipes away a tear and goes full jazz age, calling her the bee’s knees, the ginchiest, and forever hotsy-tosty, which is the first time anyone has said “ginchiest” at an Abbott event and meant it. He could talk about how incredible she is all day, he tells her, and how lucky he is that she said yes. She’s his everything, she makes him a better man than he’s ever been, and he has never been so ready for the future. Bold words from a man whose future is already buzzing in his pocket.

Audra Charles brings up the rings, the couple slip them on and repeat what the minister reads, and they’re pronounced husband and wife. They kiss, the room applauds, and Audra finally unclenches her entire body.

Now hold your champagne, because the vows are only half of the big news. Later at the reception, Billy gets a call from his uncle, Snapper, who has looped in Cane Ashby for a three-way, which is never how good news arrives. Billy asks whether his mom is okay, and the answer is the one he feared: Jill Abbott, the one guest who couldn’t make it to the wedding, has suffered a cardiac event. There’s no punchline for this one, and we won’t pretend there is. The best day of Billy’s life has taken a hard turn.

Shirley Meets the Groom, and Adam Newman Gets Awkward

After the vows, Shirley meets the groom and explains that her sister is the reason she’s there, which tells you everything about the Spectra chain of command. The newlyweds work the room, collecting hugs, and Sally is welcomed into the family. Even Ashley Abbott, who spent the morning counting red flags, tells Sally the vows were very moving and actually hugs her. Either the vows were that good or the red flags have been folded neatly into a drawer.

Audra is skeptical when Kyle Abbott tells her she looks good, which is the correct reaction from a woman who has met Kyle. Meanwhile, Chelsea Lawson introduces Lauren Fenmore to Coco Spectra, only to learn Lauren already knows her, because Genoa City is a very small snow globe with a very long guest list. Michael Baldwin leads his wife away before anybody can start a reunion, and Adam Newman wanders over for a conversation so awkward it should come with a warning label.

Cane, a man who has walked this aisle before and clearly loves the format, asks Lily Winters if she feels like topping this wedding. She reminds him she’s not ready for that, and he lets it go. Then the guests file down to the lounge to dance, which is where this party really starts to talk.

Billy Abbott Leaves Adam Newman’s Handshake Hanging

Downstairs, Lily and Traci Abbott share a quiet moment about small miracles until Cane pulls Traci onto the dance floor. Lauren, meanwhile, plants herself beside Michael and Diane Jenkins and informs her husband he will never again leave her alone with his mother. Michael, a man who knows when to nod, nods.

Cane and Billy chat, and Billy thanks him for dancing with Traci and getting her to smile again. He admits he wishes Jill were there, and Cane does too. Billy hopes she makes it in time to see her grandchild born, and Cane glances across the room at Lily and says it can take a scare to remind you how much someone means to you. Remember this conversation when the phone rings.

Johnny Abbott chats with Adam and Chelsea about how much Connor Newman loves his new school, which counts as a miracle in a family where the usual school report involves a lawyer. Michael and Diane step off the dance floor, and Michael knocks back a few glasses like they’re the hardest-working part of his evening.

Cane corners Lily, assuming she’s fretting over her tests. She’s actually remembering their weddings, a far sweeter answer than he deserves, and he asks her to dance.

At a table, Traci, Ashley, and Victoria Newman marvel that Johnny and Katie Abbott aren’t little anymore, and neither is Kyle. Ashley says it’s funny how these kids grow up without noticing they’re getting older too. Victoria stares at Kyle. For quite a while. Nobody at the table finds that strange, because nobody at the table knows what Victoria is picturing.

Jack Abbott chats with Adam and Chelsea, and the trio agrees they’re proud of Billy for behaving himself. Adam adds that Billy hasn’t given him a reason not to be yet, which is the most Adam compliment ever recorded. Then Billy sneaks in, Adam tries to congratulate him, and Billy, convinced a dig is hiding somewhere in the sentence, refuses to shake his hand. Adam is left with a handshake-shaped hole in his evening.

Adam Newman Knocks on the Bridal Suite Door at the Worst Possible Time

In the bridal suite, Coco and Audra tell Sally the whole day has felt like a movie, and Sally admits she would never have believed this a year ago. They get to talking about Adam, and Coco confesses it was hard not to punch his lights out. Loyalty, thy name is Spectra.

Sally wants to match the note Billy gave her, and once she changes, a pain doubles her over. She sits on the bed, breathes through it, and asks them not to tell Billy because the baby was only excited. The baby, for the record, has a flair for the dramatic. Heredity is a beautiful thing.

The ladies head downstairs, where Adam eavesdrops on them discussing Sally’s pain. Sally gets an idea and heads back upstairs alone, and Adam follows at a distance, which is respectful in the sense that it is technically a distance.

He knocks on her suite door, explaining that he wanted to congratulate her in private. He admits Billy has made it clear he doesn’t want him there, and he only wants Sally to be happy. She appreciates it, then doubles over in pain again. Adam thinks she should call someone. This time, Sally doesn’t think it’s Braxton-Hicks. Her water breaks, and of all the people in Genoa City, the one standing in the room is Adam.

Shirley Spectra Hands Out Marriage Advice Nobody Should Take

Back at the reception, Shirley joins Billy and his siblings as they try to give him marital advice. Shirley suggests he take it with a grain of salt, given who it’s coming from, which is wisdom from a group with more marriages than a Vegas chapel. Billy thinks they’re the best, and a group hug breaks out.

In a corner, Kyle tells Victoria how hard it is not to drag her into the closet, and somewhere in the conversation his aunts and their stories about little-boy Kyle come up. Audra, ever vigilant, corners them, surprised to find them together again, and wonders where all the sparks about Vibrante went. They promise it will be explosive. Audra isn’t wrong about the sparks, she only has the wrong fuse.

Pietro pitches Michael on a Batman-themed anniversary party, because Pietro has never met a theme he couldn’t wear. Lauren tells Chelsea she can’t wait to see Sally’s reception gown, and the two wonder where the bride is. Spoiler: she’s busy. And that brings us back to Billy’s phone, and the call we told you about at the top.
