A GODFATHER NOBODY SAW COMING! Will Y&R’s Sally Spectra Ask Adam Newman To Stand By Ruby?
Sally Spectra owes Adam Newman for delivering Ruby, and a godparent joke has Y&R fans wondering if she will ask him to stand by her baby.
SALLY SPECTRA OWES ADAM NEWMAN MORE THAN A THANK YOU
TL;DR: Y&R’s Sally Spectra thanked Adam Newman twice for delivering baby Ruby, Audra already joked about godparents, and Billy is away in London, so will Sally ask Adam to stand by her daughter?

Sally And Adam Share A Day Neither Will Forget
Sally Spectra owes Adam Newman a debt that no gift basket can cover. On her wedding day, with Billy Abbott off on a call about his mother and her own phone locked away by Audra Charles, Sally went into labor with Adam as the only person in the room. He delivered baby Ruby himself, then walked out with blood all over him while Sally thanked him for staying, which is the nicest thing anyone has ever said to a man in that condition.
Sally has made it plain that Adam got her through it. She told Billy she was terrified, that she would not let Adam leave to find him, and that Adam helped her stay strong. Billy said he was grateful Adam was there and disappointed it wasn’t him, and then he did the one thing nobody expected: he shook Adam’s hand and thanked him. Adam, startled, took it like a man handed a package he never ordered.
Audra has already spotted where this could lead. At Society on Friday, once Audra and Chelsea Lawson finished negotiating their truce and Adam arrived, Audra thanked him for helping Sally and then joked about what happens when Sally has to choose godparents. Phyllis Summers walked up with a question about Matt before anyone could answer, so the godparent question is still sitting on the table, right next to the muffins.

Sally Is Tired, Scared, And Short On Backup
Sally Spectra’s best friend knows she hates asking for help. On Monday, Sally cried to Audra that she keeps checking to make sure Ruby is breathing. After losing Ava, she worries that things have been too perfect, and she cannot sleep because all she can think about is failing. Audra reminded her that she cannot protect Ruby from everything and has to ask for help, which has never come easily to her, even when it means letting someone take over so she can rest.
Billy is in London because Jill Abbott had a heart attack, and Sally was the one who told him to pack a bag. That leaves Sally Spectra with a newborn, a husband across an ocean, and a lifelong habit of insisting she is fine.
Adam Was There For The Scariest Part
Adam knows exactly what Sally feared most, because she said it to him out loud. Before Ruby arrived, Sally told Adam this was not Ava and they did not need to be scared, and Adam promised the baby would be perfect and healthy. Later he told Chelsea he kept telling himself he had to get it right so Sally would not lose another baby, and that holding Ruby brought him joy before it brought Ava to mind.
That shared bond is not something Sally can find in a stranger, and nobody else in Genoa City can say they promised her the baby would be fine and then kept the promise. A godparent is supposed to be the person who shows up when things get frightening. Adam already did, with no warning and no towels.

Billy’s Handshake Left The Door Open
Billy’s handshake was bigger than it looked. Sally thanked him for it afterward, and he admitted he could not be mad at a man for helping their child into the world. Billy also has a middle name in mind for Ruby that he is keeping to himself for now, so he clearly has opinions about her future, and any godfather will need to clear it with him.
The spoilers say Adam pays Sally a surprise visit on Thursday, and nobody has said why. Nothing aired says Sally will ask Adam to stand by Ruby. Nothing says she won’t, either, and a visit from the man who delivered her daughter makes the idea much harder to wave away.

A Baby, A Handshake, And A Big Question
Sally Spectra has spent this whole stretch learning how to accept help, and Adam is the one person who has already given her the biggest kind. Would she really ask him? Would Billy say yes from London, and how would Chelsea feel about it? Somebody should tell Audra to start drafting the toast.
Sound off on our Facebook page and tell us who you would pick to stand by Ruby.
