BOTH OF AVA’S PARENTS ARE GRIEVING HER, AND THURSDAY ADAM NEWMAN TURNS UP AT SALLY’S DOOR

TL;DR: Young and the Restless spoilers: Adam Newman relives losing Ava, then pays Sally Spectra and baby Ruby a surprise visit on Thursday, October 29, with Billy in London. Sally has just told Audra her own fears about Ava. Does the grief only they share pull them closer? Nothing CBS has released says what happens at the door.

Adam Relives Losing Ava, Then Surprises Sally and Ruby

Adam Newman relives losing Ava, then pays Sally Spectra and baby Ruby a surprise visit on Thursday, October 29, while Billy Abbott is in London. Ava is the daughter Adam and Sally lost in 2023, and both of them have been grieving her again since Ruby was born. Does the grief only they share pull them closer? Keep our Young and the Restless spoilers for the next two weeks handy, because CBS built the week around it.

Here’s the week. Monday, “Sally makes a confession to Audra,” and Tuesday, “Adam is forced to face his past.” Thursday, “Adam pays Sally a surprise visit,” and Friday, “Nick voices his concerns to Adam.” CBS doesn’t say which past, but last Friday’s episode points straight at Ava.

On Friday, October 23, Victor Newman brought up how hard the delivery must have been after Ava. Adam got defensive and wanted everyone to stop asking, but Victor thought he needed to deal with his feelings, and he finally admitted it brought up memories and grief. That was the talk Adam tried to shut down: a push to face Ava, not an order to stay away from Sally.

Should Adam give Sally room to grieve Ava on her own? Write to our editor at amber@soapoperamagazine.com and tell us why.

Young and the Restless spoilers, Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) and Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver)

Sally Is Reliving Ava Too, and She Tells Audra First

Sally’s half has already aired, because Monday’s episode played early in Canada. With Audra Charles holding the baby, Sally admits she keeps checking that Ruby is breathing. Audra asks whether having a girl is bittersweet, and Sally says she feared that at first but is sure Ava would want her to feel nothing but joy for Ruby. Still, after losing Ava, she is scared of failing her new daughter. Adam never comes up.

Look at who each has told. Adam told Chelsea Lawson, “I couldn’t keep them safe the first time,” then conceded the grief to Victor. Sally told Nick Newman she was worried about what the delivery stirred up in Adam, and asked, “Do you believe him?” Since Ruby was born, Ava’s parents have confessed it to other people, never to each other, and Thursday looks like the first time since Billy left that they share a room with Ruby.

What Happened to Adam and Sally’s Baby Ava on Young and the Restless?

Ava was Adam and Sally’s daughter, and a February 2023 paternity test proved Adam Newman was her father. That June, Sally collapsed, Adam was told to choose between her and the baby, and he chose Sally. Ava was stillborn, and Adam told Sally, “She didn’t make it.” Her name was Ava Hope Spectra, and Sally asked him, “How could you let our baby die?”

When Sally’s water broke at her wedding with Adam alone in her suite, Adam delivered Ruby on Tuesday, October 20, and Sally told him, “It’s not Ava.” Two days later, he told Chelsea that holding Ruby reminded him of Ava and that he’d been terrified Sally would lose another baby.

Young and the Restless spoilers, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson)

Billy Lost a Daughter Too, and He Blames Adam for It

Billy’s daughter Delia died in 2013 after a hit-and-run, and in January 2014, Adam Newman confessed at her roadside memorial, “I did it. I killed Delia.” Billy also blamed himself for leaving her alone in the car.

Jason Thompson, who plays Billy, said this month that “Billy is always going to see Adam as the reason why Delia is no longer here.” Adam was also “the first person to hold” Ruby, and Thompson says that will “just keep replaying in Billy’s head over and over.” Billy won’t be home when Adam knocks, and Ruby is now the pressure point for all three parents.

Our Readers Say Ava Doesn’t Give Adam a Key to Sally’s Door

We asked on our Facebook page whether Adam is getting too attached to baby Ruby, and nearly 100 readers answered, most telling him to back off. “I know he’s thinking about Ava the little girl he lost, but Ruby is not his,” one wrote. On Bluesky, one fan asked why Adam can’t leave Sally alone and argued he wishes Ruby was Ava.

One reader took the other side, arguing the bond will “help him say goodbye to the painful past and move past it,” and believes Sally knows that.

Nothing Official Says What Ava’s Parents Tell Each Other Thursday

CBS hasn’t said whether Sally welcomes the visit, whether Adam Newman tells her about Ava, or who tells Billy. No source puts Chelsea at Sally’s door, and on Tuesday, “Nick reconnects with Chelsea.” Josh Griffith, the head writer at the time, said in May that Adam is “profoundly in love with Chelsea,” so closer doesn’t have to mean romance. My gut tells me it doesn’t need to be romance to break Billy’s heart.

Shared Grief Pulls Adam and Sally Closer, and Billy Is an Ocean Away

Ava is the one loss in Genoa City that only Adam and Sally share, and when he turns up Thursday, that grief walks in with him. My prediction: they finally talk about Ava, it brings them closer than either will admit, and Billy hears about it from someone who isn’t Sally.

Is Adam helping Sally heal, or should he leave Ava’s memory and Ruby to Sally and Billy? Tell us on our Facebook page.
