Exclusive Thursday Y&R Day-Ahead: Kyle Abbott and Victoria Newman Agree to End Their Affair

Kyle Abbott and Victoria Newman Try to Keep Their Distance

This Y&R Canadian Day-Ahead aired in Canada on Wednesday, Nov. 4, and it confirms what CBS viewers see Thursday: Kyle Abbott and Victoria Newman agree to end their affair. Getting there is not pretty. At the Genoa City Athletic Club, they sit at separate tables like strangers and text each other about the fun they had last night. Very discreet, as long as nobody looks at their faces.

Kyle can’t stand the distance, so he strolls over to her table. Victoria worries people can see them and says they are tempting fate. Kyle knows he called yesterday the last time, but he wants her too much to let her go. She admits she wants him too, then says they shouldn’t be talking like this.

“I agree. You need to stay away from my daughter,” says Nikki Newman, cutting in. If Kyle wants to talk about Vibrante, he can come to her and stop bothering Victoria, and she offers to hook him up with the PR department if he has any “ideas.” Once he walks off, Nikki vents that she wants to shake the smirk off Diane Jenkins’s face and leave her in the dust “like the old brontosaurus she is.” Nikki calls it business, but she just gave the best advice in the building.

Jack Abbott Asks Victoria About Claire

Jack Abbott joins his son at the bar, and when Kyle lets London slip, Jack asks, “Don’t you mean Paris?” Kyle blames the jet lag. He steps away to take a call, and Jack wanders over to chat with Nikki and Victoria about Diane’s shoot. Nikki suddenly remembers a meeting and takes off, which leaves Jack alone with the one woman in town who really knows where his son has been.

Jack asks about London, and Victoria changes the subject to baby Ruby. Then he asks after Claire Newman and wonders what the odds are that she and Kyle might reconnect. Victoria starts clearing her throat and twitching like the room just got very warm. Jack insists he is only being wistful, since he wishes his son would find the right person. He just happens to be saying it to the wrong one.

Victoria Newman Says It Has to End

Kyle comes back, his dad leaves, and Victoria tells him he doesn’t want to know what just happened. She says they need to end this. Too many people could be hurt, especially Claire, who is Victoria’s daughter and Kyle’s ex. Victoria admits the whole thing was exciting, but they are being selfish and have to find a way to control the attraction.

Kyle says this gives a whole new meaning to “enjoy it while it lasts,” and they agree they will never forget it. Kyle Abbott walks out, then hesitates by the door. That pause is the most honest thing either of them has done all month.

Dr. Andrew Bishop Becomes Nate’s Proctor

Over at Memorial, Nate Hastings asks Dr. Andrew Bishop if he can observe an emergency surgery. Andrew explains that he is Nate’s proctor and will decide whether Nate gets his license back, since he and Stephanie Simmons agreed she should recuse herself. His answer is no, because there is still not enough proof that Nate is ready. Nate thinks he is being blocked.

Stephanie walks in and demands to know what is going on. Andrew worries Nate might intervene, since he asked questions during the last surgery he observed. Stephanie promises Nate will keep his opinions to himself, and Andrew tells her she is overstepping. Nate backs down rather than be a distraction, and once Andrew leaves to prep, Stephanie grumbles that the man is working her last nerve.

At Society, Nate vows to get along with the controlling new doctor anyway. Stephanie worries Andrew will make things hard while she is away, Nate says he can take care of himself, and they admit they will miss each other.

Back at the hospital, Andrew reports that the patient is out of surgery, then lays down a rule: no visitors in his OR, and that includes Nate. Nate protests that he is a surgeon, not a visitor. Andrew has been in town five minutes and already has a rulebook.

Diane Jenkins Throws a Jabot Reunion

At Crimson Lights, Jack admires Diane’s 1970s outfit and remembers how gorgeous she was and all the product she moved. He is sure his dad, John Abbott, would love this campaign, and Diane wants to do his memory proud. Then Lily Winters, Cane Ashby, Danny Romalotti and Christine Blair Romalotti arrive, the ladies already in their outfits, and Jack reminds them of their Jabot days. Christine calls the Jabot through the decades concept brilliant, just as Sharon Newman joins them.

Jack takes off, and Lily tells Sharon about her test results and how terrifying the wait was. Sharon knows that fear and reminds her she can always reach out, and they toast to being well and happy. It is the warmest scene of the day, and you can bet it won’t last.

Christine giggles her way through her turn on the patio, then Lily and Cane model together. Danny and Christine ask Cane about Jill Abbott, and Danny urges him to spend as much time with her as he can. The four of them pose together and pull Esther Valentine into the shot. This is the shoot Lily agreed to when she signed on for one day of Jabot modeling, and it was never going to stay a quiet photo op.

Nikki Newman Crashes the Shoot

Nikki shows up at Crimson Lights, appalled to see Sharon working for the competition. Diane reminds her this is a private shoot. Nikki says she only came to see what a disaster it was, and she reminds everyone that she used to be a Jabot model too. She lectures Lily and Sharon for taking part, and Danny assures her it was all just good fun.

Nobody is having fun for long. Diane and Nikki go straight for each other, and Nikki tells Sharon she has betrayed the company. Before she goes, Nikki warns Diane she has another move coming and can’t wait to see how Diane fights back. Somebody hand Esther a fire extinguisher.

Thursday Comes With a Breakup

Kyle and Victoria put on the brakes, and it took one wistful question about Claire to do it. Meanwhile, Andrew drew a line around his OR, Lily and Sharon toasted to good health, and Nikki turned Diane’s reunion into round two. One door closed on Thursday, and Kyle still stopped to look back at it.
