VICTOR AND PHYLLIS CLASH IN THIS Y&R CANADIAN DAY-AHEAD

TL;DR: This Y&R Canadian Day-Ahead has Victor Newman and Phyllis Summers trading polite threats over cocktails, with Nick Newman caught in the crossfire. Sally Spectra gets an Abbott welcome, Claire Newman draws a line with Audra Charles, and Kyle Abbott walks into a London pub with a very thin excuse. Want the bigger picture? Our Y&R spoilers for the next two weeks have it all.

Victor Newman and Phyllis Summers Toast Before the Battle Begins

This Y&R Canadian Day-Ahead opens with the most polite declaration of war in Genoa City history, because nothing says โ€œIโ€™m coming for your empireโ€ like a cocktail. Victor Newman and Nick Newman are at the Athletic Club when Phyllis Summers strolls over and offers them a drink before the battle begins. Everyone is sizing everyone up, and the ice cubes are the only thing in the room that look relaxed.

Phyllis knows Victor plays by his own rules, and so does she. She plans to go straight to the top, and she reminds the Newmans that the name Arabesque is now on the building across from theirs. Victor informs her that fancy logos and braggadocio are not the same thing as business success. Nick asks if she is making the mistake of coming after them yet again, and the word โ€œyetโ€ is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Phyllis refuses to give away any trade secrets, and Victor is sure he already knows what she is up to. She admits she will be dealing mainly in real estate and hospitality, and that she is already planning a hotel across from the one the Newmans are eyeing. Victor plays to win and usually does. Phyllis says she does too. In a town with exactly one scoreboard, somebody is about to be disappointed.

When Victor walks off to take a call, Phyllis and Nick get into it. She wishes they could go back to the way they were before he got so judgmental. Nick wants her to be realistic, because going up against the Newmans is setting herself up to fail, and people who challenge them fail. Phyllis wants to go big or go home. He reminds her she has Daniel Romalotti back and Matt Clark out of her life, and that is enough wins. Then she asks if Matt is okay, and Nick tells her he checked himself into a clinic and does not want to see anyone. Phyllis would like to know how he is doing, but Nick says she cannot help him and needs to focus on her other relationships.

Nick walks away as Daniel arrives and asks his mom what the latest crisis is. Phyllis is tired of everyone doubting what she can accomplish, and it feels like everyone is trying to beat her down. She is sure the Newmans are nervous, and that energizes her. Not only will Arabesque beat Newman, she says, they will annihilate them. Daniel signed up for a legit job, so hearing the word โ€œannihilateโ€ for the first time in real time must be a thrill.

Sally Spectra Gets Welcomed Into the Abbott Fold, Baby and All

At the Abbott mansion, the family welcomes Sally Spectra and baby Ruby with open arms, telling Sally the house is now part of her legacy. They fuss over the baby and ask how Sally is doing, and Sally mostly stares at her daughter. The ladies also discuss how easily Ruby will be able to play Billy Abbott, a prediction nobody at the table seems inclined to argue with.

It means a lot to Sally that they are part of her life. Traci Abbott tells her she is family now, and so are Coco Spectraand Shirley Spectra. Shirley, who named a price for Sallyโ€™s hand at the altar, is now an Abbott in-law, so the family has read the fine print and signed anyway. Diane Jenkins promises they will be there whenever Sally needs them, and Sally is amazed she has received such a gift.

Over dinner, the talk turns to the situation with Jill Abbott. Sally feels she cannot be with Billy the way he needs, but the family insists she is doing the right thing. She worries about how the stress will affect her husband and what choices he might make. Everyone at the table hopes Jill and Billy can set their issues aside, at least for a little while.

Claire Newman Puts Audra Charles on Notice

At Society, Claire Newman runs into Audra Charles and asks about the wedding and the baby. The small talk lasts roughly as long as it takes to make a cup of coffee. Then Claire accuses Audra of extorting her mother, Victoria Newman, over the patents, and Audra says it is only business.

Audra fires back by asking how Claire chased Holden Novak away. Claire asks why Audra obsesses over the men in her life. Audra suggests Holden is using Malcolm Winters to stay away and assumes the two of them are over, adding that he deserves better. Claire says they did not break up, but she has finally figured out Audraโ€™s secret from LA. She grabs her takeout, and Audra gets defensive. Claire decides Audra is afraid. โ€œSounds like crazy Claire is back,โ€ Audra complains, which only makes Claire want to ruin her life. She says there will be a price for her silence.

โ€œLeave me alone,โ€ Claire says. She is bored with having to hear from Audra, and if Audra does not steer clear, she will expose her. Nothing improves a cafรฉ visit like a surprise ultimatum with a side of takeout.

Kyle Abbott and Victoria Newman Trade Sleep for Something Better

In London, Victoria finds Kyle Abbott looking out the window. He is jet lagged and cannot sleep, so he suggests they go out. Instead, they make out and talk about how Billy nearly caught them, the kind of near miss that would convince most people to book separate hotels. Victoria is not excited about getting dressed and suggests they stay in and wear themselves out. Kyle carries her to the bedroom.

After a romp, they stumble back in for water. Victoria needs to crash so she can get up early for business, which is technically the reason she is in London. Kyle is still wired and decides to go out alone.

Kyle Abbott Brings a Thin Excuse to a London Pub

Kyle heads to a pub, and Cane Ashby finds him almost immediately. Kyle claims he stopped by town to see a friend on his way to Paris. A friend, in London, with a balcony. Cane lets that one breathe.

They chat about winding down and about Jillโ€™s condition, which has been hard on Billy. Cane thinks Billy is terrified that Jill will recover, because then they would have to face their demons. Kyle admits it reminds him of what happened with his mother, Diane. He had to make peace with her being dead, and then she came back. Having a parent you cannot trust makes it hard to trust anyone. Cane reminds him he got past it, and Kyle says it was tough but he is grateful to have her back.

They hope Billy can reconcile with Jill too, but setting their pride aside might be hard for both of them. Cane says illness can force you to put your grievances down. He knows his own father was not perfect, but they found closure, and it made him a better person. They toast to Jill and Billy finding peace. Then Billy shows up and wonders why Kyle is there, and a very good excuse suddenly needs to be a great one.

Nick Newman Keeps Trying, and Victor Fears the Worst

Back at the Newman ranch, Nick and Victor return from the Athletic Club. Nick says he will keep trying to get through to Phyllis. Victor hopes his son does not wake up one day to discover she has done something he cannot forgive. Coming from a man who built a career on grudges, that is practically a hug.

Victor and Phyllis Are Officially Across the Street From Each Other

Victor Newman and Phyllis Summers trade cocktails and threats at the Athletic Club, and by the time Daniel Romalotti arrives, the word โ€œannihilateโ€ is already on the table.
