ESME’S NAME COMES UP IN THIS GENERAL HOSPITAL RECAP

Emma and Gio Raise Esme’s Name

Emma Scorpio-Drake and Gio Palmieri carried their stalker puzzle into Bobbie’s, where the pie was fresh and the suspect list was not. Heather Webber had landed back in Port Charles with a fat settlement and a fresh batch of apologies, so the pair asked themselves whether she still held a grudge against Trina Robinson. Emma floated the idea that Heather might blame Trina for the death of Esme Prince, and the name hung over the table like a dropped plate nobody wanted to pick up.

Emma, who had clearly built a case file worthy of a prime-time procedural, walked Gio through Heather’s greatest hits. She had sold off a baby named Steven Lars. During her marriage to Gio’s great-great-grandfather, she had also tried to talk the poor man into signing over his fortune. Gio absorbed the family lore with the face of someone who had learned his ancestor’s love life came with a rap sheet.

Tracy Quartermaine then called the couple to the mansion with a mysterious request. Brook Lynn Quartermaine was facing a hard stretch, Tracy hinted, and she wanted Gio to look after his mother while she was away. Gio promised he would, Emma volunteered to help, and Tracy sent them off with a job description that came with zero details and one very loaded pause.

Heather Drops by the Hospital

Elizabeth Baldwin was in the middle of an ordinary shift when Heather strolled into G.H. and announced she had returned to Port Charles for good, in the tone of a woman who had already signed the lease on Liz’s patience. Portia Robinson greeted the news the way most people greet a smoke alarm, so Liz ran interference. She reminded her friend that meddling with Heather’s files had almost cost Portia her license, and that mercy would not be on the menu twice.

Britt Westbourne caught the next round. Heather attempted an apology for the near-murder, which is a lot of ground to cover in one sentence, and Britt answered frostily until Liz stepped between them before anything started flying.

Then Liz offered to back Heather’s amends tour, and Heather was so moved that she hugged her ex-daughter-in-law on the spot, well before Liz got to the fine print. In Heather’s world, a hug is how you close a deal.

Isaiah Gannon had already stepped between Britt and a nurse she had snapped at, which ended her brief ceasefire with the staff now that her love bubble had popped. Later he begged Portia to steer clear of Heather, advice she received like a vegetarian being offered a steak. Portia fumed that she could not sit still while Heather roamed free.

Sonny Dangles a Deal

Sonny Corinthos invited Jude Jacks to the compound and laid an offer in front of him. Sonny would help shove Josslyn Jacks out of the JJE boardroom so Jude could run it, and in exchange he wanted the piers returned, plus Jude’s vow to keep clear of Brook Lynn and little Phoebe. It was a generous package, if you ignored that Sonny was bargaining over a baby.

Jude was happy to sell the piers, but he refused to trade away Phoebe, and he swore he would claim his piece of the family company without surrendering his daughter. Sonny let the offer stand, then warned that the next visit would cost him far more, which is the mob boss version of a limited-time sale.

Valentin Needs a Go-Between

Valentin Cassadine summoned Alexis Davis to a PCPD interrogation room, where he asked for a small favor with enormous strings attached. He wanted Danny Morgan to pass word to Charlotte Cassadine that her father was doing fine, and she should keep her distance from everyone, Lulu Spencer included.

Alexis refused to be a courier until she heard the whole story, so Valentin came clean. Charlotte and Danny were the ones who had discovered Jack Brennan’s remains, and the bracelet left on them was Charlotte’s. He feared she would incriminate herself and Danny if she came home, so she needed to remain at boarding school.

Alexis, annoyed, informed him that the kids’ first instinct to hide a corpse came from years of watching him, Carly Spencer, and Jason Morgan sweep problems under the rug. She agreed anyway, since two kids were worth more than a lecture. On her way out she landed one last jab: if Martin Grey could not win a writ over the search that turned up the baggie holding Jack’s finger, he deserved to lose his law license.

Tracy Hands Jason the Keys

Tracy had to fly off to rescue Dillon, because a Bangkok film shoot at a Buddhist monastery had ended with him under arrest, a sentence that deserves its own soap opera. Before leaving, she asked Jason to watch over the family through its latest crises, Brook Lynn especially. Jason swore he would handle all of it, and a misty Tracy told him his parents would have been proud.

Serena Offers Carly an Alibi

Serena Baldwin and Lucy Coe stewed over Deception at Bobbie’s. Serena pitched a clean break: let the Quartermaines keep Deception and start a cosmetics line starring the two of them. Lucy shot it down, since launching fresh labels was brutal these days, and she got misty about Deception’s glory days, when Brenda Barrett was the face of the launch.

Lucy would rather find a Quartermaine weakness to exploit, so Serena asked Jason to meet her at Bobbie’s and offered the one thing he might want: Carly’s alibi for the evening Jack was last seen alive. The price was total say over Deception’s creative direction. Nothing says family loyalty like a cosmetics hostage situation.
