NATE IS BLOCKED IN THIS YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS RECAP

TL;DR: This Young and the Restless Recap catches Dr. Andrew Bishop barring Nate Hastings from his operating room while Dr. Stephanie Simmons argues Nateโ€™s case. Victoria Newman and Kyle Abbott agreed to call off their affair after Jack Abbott asked an innocent-sounding question about Claire Newman, and Nikki Newman crashed Diane Jenkinsโ€™s Jabot shoot while Lily Winters confided in Sharon Newman after a nerve-racking wait for medical results.

Dr. Bishop Closes the OR Door

Nate Hastings had been back at Memorial for about a day and a half when he asked to sit in on an urgent operation, the kind of enthusiasm that usually gets a rulebook opened. Dr. Andrew Bishop said no. He was Nateโ€™s proctor, he explained, the person who would rule on whether the license came back, and he and Dr. Stephanie Simmons had agreed she should stay out of that decision. Proof that Nate was ready was still thin, which Nate heard as a polite word for blocked.

Stephanie marched in demanding answers and walked straight into a custody hearing over one very opinionated surgeon. Andrewโ€™s fear was that Nate would leap into the middle of a procedure, since he had peppered the previous operation he sat through with questions. Stephanie vowed that Nate would keep his thoughts to himself, a promise she made on behalf of a man who has never once kept his thoughts to himself. Andrew told her she was overstepping, Nate retreated so he would not become the distraction, and Stephanie muttered that Andrew had found her last nerve and parked on it.

At Society, Nate promised to play nice with his new boss anyway, which is easy to promise before the second rule shows up. Stephanie fretted that Andrew would make life miserable while she was away, Nate insisted he could look after himself, and the two admitted they would miss each other. Nothing says โ€œIโ€™ll be fineโ€ like handing the man who grades you the keys to the building.

Andrew got the final word. He reported that he had finished his operation, then announced a brand-new law: his OR was closed to visitors, Nate included. Nate protested that he was a surgeon, and surgeons arenโ€™t visitors, an argument that would land a lot harder if his license were back in his wallet.

Kyle and Victoria End Things

Victoria Newman and Kyle Abbott took separate tables at the GCAC and spent lunch swapping messages about the night before, like spies who skipped the part of training about faces. Kyle couldnโ€™t stand the distance and wandered over, which defeated the entire point of the separate tables. Victoria warned that they were tempting fate. Kyle admitted he had sworn the previous call was his final one and still needed her far too badly to quit, and she confessed the feeling was mutual before insisting they shouldnโ€™t talk like this.

Nikki Newman cut in with a motherโ€™s warning: leave my daughter alone. If Kyle wanted to discuss Vibrante, she told him, he could take it up with her, and she dangled the PR department as an outlet for any bright ideas. After he left, she fumed about the smirk on Diane Jenkinsโ€™s face, then called it all business, which would sound more convincing without the steam coming out of her ears.

Jack Abbott pulled up a stool beside Kyle, who said London where Paris was supposed to go. Jack asked whether he meant Paris, Kyle blamed jet lag, and then he excused himself for a phone call. That left Jack free to wander over to Nikki and Victoria to talk about Dianeโ€™s shoot, until Nikki recalled a meeting she suddenly needed to attend. Jack found himself stuck with the lone person in town who knew exactly where Kyle had been. He raised London with Victoria, who pivoted to the baby. Then he asked about Claire Newman and wondered whether Claire and Kyle could reunite. Victoria cleared her throat and fidgeted like someone in a very warm room. Jack insisted he was only feeling wistful about his sonโ€™s love life, a lovely sentiment to share with the woman holding the answer.

Once Jack left and Kyle returned, Victoria told him he didnโ€™t need the details of what had happened and that they had to end it. Plenty of people stood to be hurt, Claire above all, since she was Kyleโ€™s ex and Victoriaโ€™s child. Victoria admitted it had been thrilling and also selfish. Kyle noted that the old saying about savoring something while it lasts had never felt so literal, and they agreed neither of them would ever forget it. He walked out and then lingered at the door, a hesitation that suggested this breakup came with a very short shelf life.

Young and the Restless spoilers, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) signs on with Diane Jenkins as Nikki Newman takes on Jabot

Dianeโ€™s Jabot Shoot Gets Crashed

Crimson Lights hosted the shoot, and Jack admired Dianeโ€™s retro 1970s look and recalled how much product she used to move. He was sure his late father, John Abbott, would have loved the campaign, and Diane said she wanted to honor his memory. Cane Ashby, Lily Winters, Christine Blair Romalotti and Danny Romalotti arrived with their costumes already on, and Jack teased them about their old Jabot careers. Christine called the through-the-decades idea brilliant as Sharon Newman arrived.

After Jack left, Lily confided in Sharon about how her tests had come out and how frightening the wait had been. Sharon understood that fear all too well and told Lily she could always reach out. They raised a glass to good health.

The photos kept rolling. Christine giggled through her patio solo, Lily and Cane modeled together, and Danny and Christine asked Cane how Jill Abbott was doing, with Danny encouraging him to savor every minute he could with her. All four posed together while Esther Valentine got tugged into the frame.

Then Nikki stormed in, appalled to find Sharon moonlighting for the other team. Diane noted that the event was invitation only. Nikki said she had come to inspect the wreckage and reminded everyone she used to model for Jabot herself, then scolded the two women for participating. Danny insisted it was all good fun, easily the bravest sentence spoken in that building all afternoon. Diane and Nikki went at each other, Nikki accused Sharon of betraying the company, and she left with a warning that Diane had another move coming.

Doors Close All Over Genoa City

It was a Young and the Restless day for closing doors. One surgeon built a wall around his operating room, one affair got a breakup nobody believes, and one photo shoot ended in a threat. Even the sweetest moment, Lily and Sharon toasting good health, carried a nervous edge, and Nate was left outside a door he had believed was wide open.
