A Baby Wish Nobody Asked For

Adam Newman has decided another baby is the cure for a broken heart, and he pitched it to Chelsea Lawson like a man who rehearsed it in the car. She called it very concerning, reminded him that even Victor Newman finds his closeness to Ruby bizarre, refused to copy Sally Spectra’s baby plans, and walked out. Victor had Adam tailed, so the whole family is watching, and Adam answered by admitting that burping Ruby got him thinking about another child, the kind of sentence that makes anyone check the exits.

Billy Abbott already drew his own line. Adam swears the bootie and the burping meant nothing and that Ruby is no replacement for Ava Spectra Newman, and Billy answered that he is not welcome at the house unless he is invited. Billy then went to Adam’s place to talk about his baby, and nobody believes the bootie was the whole story.

Abby Newman is sitting on a secret that changes the math. She told Chelsea she never thought she could get pregnant, but miracles happen, and a dizzy spell plus some nausea are doing the talking. Devon Winters is in Maryland and in the dark, and Chelsea says to take a test. Abby would rather sit on it.

Two Babies, One Terrible Ending

Abby knows how rare this would be. Mariah Copeland carried Dominic Newman Abbott Winters Chancellor for her, so a pregnancy of her own would be her little miracle, the one she was told she would never get.

Now picture Chelsea giving in. Both women expecting at the same time is a Y&R baby boom, and soap law says somebody pays for a boom. If one couple loses their little one, Adam Newman, who already told us “I couldn’t keep them safe the first time,” will not shrug off one more loss. He delivered Ruby himself in Sally’s suite, felt joy, then thought of Ava and said, “It’s not Ava.” If one newborn already does that to him, picture what a baby of his own, or one he decides should have been his, would do.

How Far Would He Go?

Would Adam Newman really snatch his sister’s newborn and press that baby to his own chest? A man already in orbitaround Ruby would not find it a stretch. He would scream, cry and carry on that the baby is his, but the baby would look like Devon, and even Adam could not deny that for long. Abby and Chelsea would both have doubts. Nick Newman has already heard how protective Adam feels of Ruby, Billy’s door is closed, and Victor has a tail on him, so Adam would be doing it with an audience and no patience.
