STEVE GAVE CAT GREENE THE CERTIFICATE, AND SHE TOLD EJ IT CAME FROM MARLENA

TL;DR: Days of Our Lives spoilers: Steve Johnson handed Cat Greene a copy of Dominic Marino’s birth certificate on Wednesday, and she gave it to EJ DiMera claiming Marlena was the source. Only two people can expose her.

Steve Hands Over the Paper EJ Has Been Hunting

Dominic’s birth certificate is finally in EJ’s hands on Days of Our Lives, and he has no idea who really sent it. Wednesday’s episode delivered the Days of Our Lives spoilers promise that Steve warns Cat, then went a lot further. Steve Johnson told Cat Greene that EJ DiMera is dangerous and that she should think about walking away. Then he admitted he was the one who brought the certificate to Marlena in the first place, and he handed Cat a copy.

He had two conditions. She can never tell EJ where it came from, and she reports back anything she or EJ learns about Dominic Marino. Cat took the deal, carried the document to EJ and let him believe she had pulled it off alone. Her story? She got it from Marlena Evans.

How the Certificate Traveled Through Salem

Follow the paper trail. Bo and Hope found the certificate, and on September 25 Steve showed it to Marlena on his phone. It lists Stefano as the father and Marlena as the mother. She asked him to keep it between them and Brady. Our daily recaps picked it up from there, the night Cat agreed to spy on Marlena for EJ on October 19 by going through the doctor’s records with the access she once had as her assistant.

That search never happened. Marlena never handed anything over, and no episode has shown her keeping a copy of her own. So the story Cat sold EJ points straight at the one woman who can prove it false. Reading between the lines, Steve wanted EJ to have the paper, as long as Steve hears what comes of it.

Cat Greene, torn between her boss EJ DiMera and her ally Steve Johnson, carries Dominic Marino's birth certificate and a lie in Days of Our Lives spoilers, October 28, 2026

Where Did Cat Get Dominic’s Birth Certificate?

From Steve. He gave her a copy on Wednesday, October 28. EJ believes it came from Marlena only because that is what Cat told him, and nobody in that room was going to correct her.

Who Holds What, and Where Cat Greene’s Cover Breaks

Count the people who know the truth. Steve handed it over, and Cat told the lie. Marlena only knows she read the thing on Steve’s phone a month ago, with no clue her name is now somebody’s cover story. EJ knows the least of anyone, and he is the one holding the paper.

That makes the crack easy to find. Steve cannot catch the lie, because he set it up. The danger is one conversation between EJ and Marlena. If EJ thanks her, taunts her or so much as waves the certificate at her, Marlena can say she never gave Cat a thing. She is not sitting still, either: on Tuesday she called Dominic and left a voicemail saying they need to talk.

Steve Johnson, suspicious of Cat Greene back when she posed as Abigail, the same woman he now trusts with Dominic Marino's birth certificate in Days of Our Lives spoilers, October 28, 2026

EJ Got His Paper and Still Lost His Day

EJ did not get long to enjoy it. Johnny faced him down on Wednesday, and before the day was out EJ hurled something at Stefano’s portrait, the outburst the previews teased last week. The certificate does not give him what he wants most, either. It proves whose names somebody wrote down, not who Dominic’s mother is, and Dominic has yet to set foot on screen.

That changes soon. Kyle Pryor’s first episode as Dominic lands in early November, on Monday, November 2 or Friday, November 6 depending on which report you read, and the anniversary episodes on November 6 and 9 feature his arrival. Whoever reaches him first gets to tell the story their way.

Thomas DiMera Has Second Thoughts About Cat Greene

Friday brings a new wrinkle. Previews say Thomas DiMera has second thoughts about Cat while he celebrates Halloween with his father, Chad DiMera. That boy has history with her, since Cat once posed as his late mother, Abigail. The previews do not say which way his second thoughts run.

The rumor mill has its own ideas. One columnist guesses EJ will try to take Cat to bed again soon and that she will find an excuse to say no. That is a guess, not a spoiler, and no grid for the week of November 2 has posted yet. The wider soap rumor mill is already betting on EJ’s next move.

Three Moves EJ Could Make Now

First, he marches the certificate over to Marlena, the fastest way to blow Cat Greene’s cover. Second, he locks it in a drawer and waits to see Dominic’s face. Third, he uses it on Chad, the brother he already told that Dominic may be family. My gut says EJ cannot resist making Marlena squirm, and that is exactly the scene Cat cannot afford.

Cat’s Cover Story Has Marlena’s Name on It, and That Is the Problem

Our take: Steve played this smart and Cat played it lazy. He kept his own name out of it, and she reached for the most obvious name in Salem, the one woman EJ is most likely to throw it at.

We are betting Marlena hears her own name in this mess before Dominic ever rings her back. Does Cat get ahead of it, or does EJ find out the hard way? Tell us on our Facebook page.
