Jack and Nikki Newman Weigh the Nuclear Option

Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) has sent every flower and every text message he can think of. Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) will not answer a single one. Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) tried to knock some sense into Diane herself and got a door slammed in her face. So now these two are parked on a sofa at the GCAC, venting and running out of ideas fast.

Then Jack Abbott remembers a story from one of Traci‘s novels and lands on something that makes them both stop cold. What if they made their spouses jealous? What if they said they found comfort and solace in each other?

Nikki knows exactly what that means. If Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) believed for one second that she and Jack were romantically involved, he would go completely over the edge. They both know this. They call it the nuclear option.

Diane Jenkins Chooses Victor Newman Over Her Own Husband

They do not get long to sit with the idea. Victor walks into the GCAC scowling.

Diane arrives right behind him. Jack Abbott rushes to her. She does not want to hear a word. She walks right past her own husband and straight to Victor, telling him he is a better judge of Jack than she ever was.

Victor smirks. Tells Jack to move on. Dismisses his threats as empty and wanders out like a man who already won.

Jack turns to Diane and asks how she could take Victor‘s side. Her answer stops him cold. She asks if he is feeling betrayed. Because that is exactly how she felt.

After Diane walks out, Jack Abbott tells Nikki he is on the verge of desperation. Something has to give.

Matt Clark Terrorizes Chelsea Lawson While the Newman Brothers Fight to Survive

In Las Vegas, Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) calls Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) to tell her Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) has disappeared. Both women have a terrible feeling about what that means.

Then Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) shows up at Chelsea‘s hotel door, calls her “hot stuff,” and demands she stop talking because her voice is “shrill.” She demands to know where Nick and Adam are. Matt tells her Nick “seemed pretty dead” and walks out like he has somewhere more important to be.

Down in a storage room, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) wakes up on the floor next to his unconscious brother. He checks Nick‘s pulse. Nick comes to and Adam unties him. Adam suspects Nick has a serious addiction. Nick denies it. Neither of them is in great shape.

Adam calls Chelsea from a wall phone. She finds them and gets both brothers back to their suite.

Nick Newman Hides His Darkest Secret

The second they are back in the room, Nick heads straight to the bathroom. Adam tells Chelsea quietly that he thinks his brother might be hooked.

In the bathroom, Nick takes out his drugs.

When he comes back out, they realize Matt has their phones. Nick tells them they cannot call Noah or Sharon. They need to find Matt before he makes it back to Genoa City.

Sharon Newman Drives Straight Into Matt Clark’s Trap

Matt is already a step ahead. He uses Nick‘s phone to text Sharon, posing as Nick and claiming he caught Matt and she needs to come watch him go down.

At Crimson Lights, Noah Newman (Robert Adamson) finds Sharon and she fills him in. Chelsea saw MattNick disappeared. Noah wants to leave immediately.

Sharon gets the text. She shows Noah. They text back that they are on the way.

When Matt reads the reply, he smiles. He says he cannot wait to see Sharon.

Michael Baldwin and Lauren Fenmore Dance Like the World Is Not Burning

While every other marriage in Genoa City is falling apart, Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) fills Lauren Fenmore (Tracey E. Bregman)’s brand new office with candles and flowers. He gives her a watch with no hands to remind her their love is timeless.

Michael tells Lauren he supports her completely, even her bold choice to work with Phyllis. They toast to reckless plans, agree that love is the most reckless thing of all, and then he puts on music. They dance. They make out. At least one couple in Genoa City still remembers what happiness feels like.
