PHYLLIS SUMMERS HAS A PORTRAIT NOW AND GENOA CITY IS NOT READY

TL;DR: Phyllis Summers took Victor Newman’s portrait down and hung her own in its place on The Young and the Restless Tuesday, March 31. Victoria Newman had to stand there and look at it. Then Summer Newman disowned her by letter and Phyllis crumpled it up and said to hell with everyone. Patty Williams told Jack Abbott they are inevitable and called his threats “really kinky,” Mariah Copeland told Tessa Porter she is checking in alone, and Devon Winters wants blood over the plea deal.

The Portrait Heard Round Genoa City

Phyllis Summers did not come to play. She came to redecorate. This woman stole Victor Newman’s entire empire, moved into his building, ripped his portrait off the wall, and hung her own face in its place like she was christening a yacht with her name on it. Somewhere at the ranch, Victor’s left eye is twitching and he does not even know why yet.

Victoria Newman storms in and has to stand there looking at Phyllis Summers hanging where daddy used to be. Phyllis even reminds her of when Victoria’s own portrait hung there during her “brief tenure.” She said brief. To Victoria’s face. While posing under her own portrait. The nerve of this woman could power every light in Genoa City and still have enough left over to fuel a sequel.

Then Victoria hands her a letter from Summer. Phyllis reads it alone and the victory lap hits a wall. Summer says an attack on the Newmans was an attack on her. She never wants to see her mother again. Phyllis Summers shows it to Daniel Romalotti and he tells her to give it all back or she has lost her kids for good. She refuses. He walks out. She crumples up the letter and says to hell with everyone. This woman just lost both of her children and still will not take the portrait down. That is either the most heartbreaking stubbornness in soap opera history or the most iconic. It might be both.

Patty Williams Has No Off Switch

Patty Williams shows up at the Abbott estate and asks Jack Abbott to admit she rocked his world. She fans her cleavage with her purse and tells him they are inevitable. Jack tells her he should have thrown her overboard when he saw her. Patty says “that’s really kinky.” This woman is operating in a dimension where shame does not exist and consequences are a suggestion. Billy Abbott shows up and echoes his brother ordering her out. She leaves. She will be back. She always comes back. That is what makes her terrifying and also weirdly entertaining.

Mariah Copeland Says Goodbye to Tessa Porter

Mariah Copeland tells Tessa Porter she is checking into the psychiatric hospital but she does not want Tessa to come. She needs to heal alone. Tessa thought they were going as a family. Mariah says she is too ashamed and too lost and she needs to do this by herself.

They hold hands. They promise to try. Tessa says she and Aria will always be there. Mariah thanks her for her patience and walks out with “I’ll be seeing you” as her last words. That is either a promise or a goodbye and neither of them knows which one it is yet.

Devon Winters Wants Consequences

Devon Winters and Abby Newman are furious that Mariah got a plea deal sending her to a psychiatric hospital instead of prison. They were not consulted. The judge never spoke to them. Nate Hastings thinks it might be the best option because if Mariah gets better, everyone is better off. Devon hears his cousin’s points but the more he thinks about it, the angrier he gets. His son was taken. And the woman who took him is facing no legal consequences. That math does not add up for a father and it never will.

Kyle Abbott Calls Claire Newman “Just Another Newman”

Kyle Abbott and Claire Newman fight about Victor again. She suggests Jack might have been tempted by Patty. Kyle dismisses her as just another Newman. He tells her even Nikki Newman will stand up to Victor and Claire will not. He says this may be an issue they can never get past. Claire went from evil to fairytale princess and now she cannot even keep a friendship with an Abbott without her grandfather’s crimes getting in the way. The Newman name is starting to cost her more than it gives her.

Is Phyllis Summers going to lose everything trying to keep that portrait on the wall? And will Devon Winters ever accept Mariah Copeland’s plea deal? Sound off below!

WATCH NOW: We love a funny queen!

@soapoperamag I giggled during this and had to do a rewatch because it was too funny. It's not often Nikki shows off her comedic side, but when she was pointing her finger and laughing in Cane's face, I gotta say, I nearly spat out my tea! This moment has lived rent-free in my head since it happened, and I couldn't help but talk about it. Were you Team Nikki or Team Cane in that moment? #YR #YoungandtheRestlessYoungandtheRestless ♬ original sound – Soap Opera Magazine
