NINA IS CRUSHED IN THIS GENERAL HOSPITAL RECAP

TL;DR: This General Hospital Recap catches Nina Reeves learning in custody that Jack Brennan was dead and that Carly Spencer and Valentin Cassadine were under arrest. Lucas Jones found a sedative the police may have overlooked, Judeโ€™s claim on baby Phoebe sent Sonny Corinthos and Brook Lynn Quartermaine scrambling, and Curtis Ashford pushed for an early appeal while Jordan Ashford fought a setback in Germany.

Nina Learns the Awful Truth

Nina Reeves had settled into her new accommodations, a covert hideaway in Port Charles with all the charm of a dentistโ€™s waiting room, when William Baines arrived with the news that Jack Brennan had been found. Carly Spencerand Valentin Cassadine were under arrest for his murder, and Baines delivered all of it with the warmth of a man reading out a parking ticket.

Nina was crushed, and then she was furious, mostly with herself. She should have spotted Carlyโ€™s fingerprints all over her frame job ages ago, she told Baines, and she tossed in that she held Carly responsible for her daughter Nelleโ€™s death while she was at it. Valentin, she sighed, was merely the newest man dragged into a Carly production. Carly recruited men into her schemes the way other people recruit for book clubs.

Across town, Willow Tait had spent the morning collecting clearance from Homeland Security, plus the WSB, so that Tristan Roberts could look in on her mother. That sounded like a triumph right up until she opened her mouth and bossed a surgeon around inside his own building. Tristan said no. Willow lowered her voice, tried a little humility, and discovered it worked far better than orders, so he grudgingly came around.

He reached Ninaโ€™s room, declared her healthy, and then produced the real reason for the visit: a lipstick from her daughter. Nina welled up over a cosmetic, which tells you exactly how long she had gone without anything pretty. It was the nicest thing to happen to her on General Hospital in weeks, and it still came with a medical exam attached.

Carly Clams Up in Custody

Joe Fitzpatrick kept leaning on Carly about the bracelet with the little letter on it, like a man who had found the only clue in town and refused to share it. Carly, who had turned the shrug into an art form, allowed that Jack might have given it to her as a present. Then she pointed out that plenty of women owned the style and that nobody at the PCPD would ever prove this one was hers. She finished with free advice for Joe: follow the evidence to Jackโ€™s real killer. That is a bold thing to say from the wrong side of an interrogation table.

Josslyn Jacks came to visit and said she didnโ€™t believe for a second that her mother had killed anyone. She did side with Joe on one point, which was that Carly was holding something back. Carly didnโ€™t bother denying it. She admitted she was protecting somebody, then made a point of adding that the somebody was not the killer. Viewers know exactly who she meant, a pair of kids with a lot of explaining to do, but Josslyn left with a mystery and a mother who stayed locked down.

Ava and Drew Start Sweating

Drew Cain was in his office thanking a Llanview reporter for publishing the piece on Curtis, a pleasant exchange that ended the instant Ava Jerome barged in. She had it from Alexis Davis that the PCPD had dug up Jack, and Drewโ€™s phone confirmed the rest, because Carly and Valentin were now in custody for the murder.

Ava didnโ€™t see the upside yet. Had Drew framed Carly in the first place, she grumbled, Nina would never have taken that road trip to Steinmauer. Drew replied that Nina had earned every mile after the dock incident, which is one way to turn an attack into a travel itinerary.

Then Willow arrived with a cheerful update, the most dangerous kind. Her mother was back in Port Charles, she chirped, and with Carly and Valentin in the frame, Nina might walk free soon. Ava gave Drew a look that said everything her lawyer would have told her not to.

Lucas Jones had the opposite problem. He wanted Jackโ€™s autopsy report, and he wanted it fast, because he was hoping it would clear Ava. Tristan let him take a look, and when the autopsy and toxicology results finally landed in his hands, Lucas found a sedative in Jackโ€™s bloodstream that police could easily have skimmed past. He told Joe that a man dressed head to toe has no business swallowing a sedative unless somebody slipped it to him. That is excellent detective work, and it is also an awkward thing to point out on behalf of a woman who had helped slip him one.

Jude Has Everyone Scrambling

Josslyn had a second piece of bad news for Carly, and it came with a family tree. Her cousin Jude, a relative who had escaped Carlyโ€™s notice until now, had turned up with a paternity claim on Phoebe. Carly warned her not to let him play the family card the way his father had played it on Josslynโ€™s dad for years. Josslyn vowed to stay alert and keep Jude far from JJE.

Brook Lynn Quartermaine paid Sonny Corinthos a visit with Phoebe in her arms and admitted she was afraid Judeโ€™s claim had legs. The two of them agreed he was probably angling for a Quartermaine payout. Brook Lynn said that she and Chase would battle for their little girl, but that she would happily bend rules her rule-following cop of an ex would never touch.

Sonny swore to do whatever it took, a vow he made roughly four thousand times in his career, and later told Ric Lansing to arrange a sit-down with Jude at the earliest possible moment. Meanwhile Brook Lynn turned up at the hospital carrying DNA donated by Phoebe and by Josslyn, then asked where a person goes to submit a DNA test.

Curtis Wants Out by Christmas

Monet Mitchell breezed into Pentonville to tell Curtis Ashford that the Llanview article was doing precisely what she had planned and turning him into a sympathetic hero. She was thrilled and a little smug, and she wanted to know what Jordan Ashford thought. Curtis hadnโ€™t told her. Monetโ€™s face fell, because a woman can run an entire media campaign and still find that the one reviewer she cares about was never briefed.

Conversation moved on to the timing of the appeal. Monet laid out the dangers of rushing it, as lawyers do, yet Curtis was ready to move now. His reasoning was simple: if there was any chance of being home in time for Desmondโ€™s first Christmas, he intended to grab it.

Jordan Refuses to Quit

At the clinic in Baden-Baden, Jordanโ€™s recovery took a frightening turn when a fever dragged her into a nightmare that replayed the crash. Waking, she found Michael Corinthos beside her, explaining that an infection had set in. Her doctors were ready to halt treatment, worried about her single kidney, but Jordan would not hear of it. She insisted on continuing.

She tried to send Michael home to his children, and he wouldnโ€™t leave, because he didnโ€™t want her facing the night alone. He told her to rest and promised he would be at her bedside on waking. Jordan thanked him as sleep took her.

Bracelets, Lipstick, and Loose Ends

Everybody in Port Charles spent the hour guarding something, and nearly all of them did it badly. A lipstick got more honest emotion out of Nina than weeks of interrogation, a bracelet refused to keep quiet no matter who shrugged at it, and a sedative surfaced in the one place the people responsible for it hoped nobody would look. Judeโ€™s claim sent a bag of swabs toward the lab, Curtis started counting the days to Christmas, and Jordan chose to keep fighting with Michael beside her.
