Kristen DiMera Walked Into Kay’s Diner

The Days of Our Lives recap October 9, 2026 ends far from Salem, in Paducah, Kentucky. Kristen DiMera spotted a server through the window of Kay’s Diner, slipped inside and hid behind a menu. The server came over with a southern drawl and introduced herself as Amelia.

Kristen lowered the menu and called her by her real name. It was Sophia Choi, alive, in an apron and taking orders like she had never heard of Salem.

Days of Our Lives Recap: Why That Face Should Scare Kristen

Think about who is holding the menu. On May 1, Kristen struck Sophia, had her thrown in the Salem River and staged it to look like Sophia took her own life. That came a day after Sophia set fire to Johnny’s apartment with him inside. Everyone in town has believed Sophia was gone ever since.

So the woman Kristen tried to bury is now the one person who can tell the world what Kristen did. What Sophia does with that is Monday’s problem, and it is a big one.

Is Sophia Choi Really Alive on Days of Our Lives?

Yes, and she has been hiding under another name. How she got out of that river, and who else knows, are the questions the show has not touched yet. Kristen came to Kentucky for her own reasons, and she now has a witness standing at her table. What happens next is in our Days of Our Lives spoilers.

Days of Our Lives Recap: Joy Wesley Got Up From Her Wheelchair

Back in Salem, Kayla Johnson went over the discharge plan with Joy Wesley, who praised how attentive Alex has been. Kayla offered her own help and Steve’s with Kelsey. Joy said Alex would handle it. Kayla made sure she understood the stay was temporary, and that Stephanie had agreed to it.

Alex Kiriakis brought Joy and Kelsey home and said she could stay until she found a place of her own. Out in the hallway he had a quiet moment with his wife, Stephanie Johnson. They traded an I love you, and he headed to the car for the bags.

Then Kelsey started crying. Joy tried to reach her from the wheelchair, then got up and went to the crib. In the hall, Stephanie heard the baby, got worried and turned the handle.

Johnny DiMera Asked Stephanie for Help Coming Clean

Earlier, Johnny DiMera ignored a call from EJ and asked Stephanie, the PR expert in his office, how DiMera could take responsibility publicly without destroying the company. She brought up the Coriseal, warned him about the backlash and agreed to help. Johnny knows the fallout will be ugly, and he is doing it anyway.

Steve Johnson walked in and praised Johnny for going to the police about EJ DiMera. He also told him to watch his back. Johnny insisted his father would never hurt him.

Then Steve explained why he really came. Rachel Black is in the hospital asking for her mother. Johnny said EJ blames Kristen for what Sophia did, though he was not convinced himself.

Steve wants to find Kristen for Rachel’s sake. He said it was too bad they could not ask Sophia. If he only knew where Kristen was sitting at that moment.

Days of Our Lives Recap: Belle Black Brought Chad In

Belle Black told Chad DiMera that Rachel’s appendix had ruptured and everyone was hoping it would not get infected. Then she got to EJ. She said she questioned him, as our recap of EJ’s day at the station covered, but had to let him walk for now because there was no evidence to charge him.

Belle suspects EJ was behind the arrest of Leo Stark over the counterfeit goods. If charges are off the table, she wants Leo to go public with names and numbers of people willing to talk. Chad did not need convincing. No more, he said. He is in.

Belle had one more worry on her mind: Dominic Marino is still on his way to Salem, and nobody knows what he wants when he gets here.

Kristen DiMera Has a Witness Problem

Every thread in this episode bends toward one man. Johnny is going public, Belle and Chad want EJ in print, and Steve is hunting for Kristen. The woman they need most is in a Kentucky apron, and she knows things about Kristen that nobody in Salem does.
