Ladies Who Lunch! GH’s Nancy Lee Grahn Carries On the Lunch Tradition for the Daytime Emmy Lead Actress Nominees
Nancy Lee Grahn hosted the Daytime Emmy Lead Actress nominees at home, keeping a 2005 tradition alive ahead of Friday’s big night.
NANCY LEE GRAHN SERVES THE EMMY NOMINEES DINNER AT HOME
TL;DR: General Hospital star Nancy Lee Grahn, last year’s Daytime Emmy Lead Actress winner, cooked dinner at home for this year’s five nominees, as covered by Michael Fairman TV and Soap Opera Digest and shown in Michelle Stafford’s Instagram post.

The Hostess With the Roast Chicken
Daytime’s most competitive category spent Wednesday night passing the asparagus. Nancy Lee Grahn, who plays Alexis Davis on GH and holds last year’s Lead Actress trophy, did what the reigning champ is supposed to do and threw the nominees a party, except she skipped the fancy restaurant and cooked the whole meal in her own kitchen.
The guest list was a season of plot twists on one tablecloth. Heather Tom, Michelle Stafford, Karla Mosley, Tamara Tunie, and Stacy Haiduk all pulled up a chair, so the women behind Katie Logan, Phyllis Summers, Dani Dupree, Anita Dupree, and Kristen DiMera spent an evening being perfectly civil. Those five characters have schemed across four different towns, and the only thing anybody stabbed at this dinner was an heirloom tomato.

The Check Nobody Was Supposed to See
The tradition dates to 2005, when Susan Flannery gathered that year’s nominees for a meal and quietly settled the bill before anyone could reach for a wallet. The others objected, so she set a house rule: next year’s check belongs to whoever wins. Erika Slezak took the trophy, and a ladies’ lunch became a daytime institution. Nancy Lee Grahn is now keeping Flannery’s generous little plot going, with one twist of her own: a home-cooked dinner instead of a lunch.
This year’s table came with a few firsts. Mosley and Tunie have never been up for this prize before, and neither had Haiduk, whose earlier nomination came in the Supporting Actress race. Stafford called the night proof that women in the same race can still share a table, and she gave a shout-out to a dog named Dylan for posing in the group photo. Nancy Lee Grahn, ever the hostess, teased that the real question is who survives to Emmy night.
Pass the Asparagus, Pass the Trophy
The 53rd Daytime Emmys arrive Friday at the Hollywood Palladium, and by then one of these five will be holding the title Nancy Lee Grahn passes on. Whoever wins inherits the guest list, the apron, and next year’s check.
