ADAM NEWMAN WANTS ANOTHER CHILD AFTER HOLDING RUBY, AND CHELSEA WANTS TO KNOW IF THIS IS ABOUT SALLY’S DAUGHTER

TL;DR: Young and the Restless spoilers: Adam Newman asked Chelsea for another baby on Monday, right after describing Ruby asleep on his shoulder. On Tuesday she asks if this is really about Ruby, refuses to have a baby because Sally did, and walks out.

Adam Asks for Another Baby, and Chelsea Walks Out on Tuesday

It’s confirmed: Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) asked Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) for another baby on Monday’s CBS episode, and on Tuesday, November 3, she walks out on him. Tuesday’s hour already aired in Canada, and our Young and the Restless spoilers have the fallout. Adam says it’s about their son. Chelsea thinks it’s about the newborn he can’t stop visiting.

The ask came hours after Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) let it drop at breakfast, in front of Chelsea, that Adam had been to see Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) and baby Ruby. Chelsea hadn’t been told. Adam accused his father of having him watched, and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) said it got messier than it needed to be.

Back home, Chelsea asked why he kept the visits from her. Adam described burping Ruby and the baby falling asleep on his shoulder. He said he had forgotten how that felt, and then he said it: “Maybe we should do it, Chels. Maybe we should have another child.”

Young and the Restless spoilers, Chelsea Lawson and Adam Newman face off over another baby

Chelsea Asks if This Is About Ruby, and Adam Has No Answer

On Tuesday, Adam says he’s serious. The house has been quiet since their son, Connor Newman (Judah Mackey), left for school, and a baby would give Connor a sibling. Chelsea asks if Ruby is the real reason, refuses to have a baby just because Sally did, and worries what a sibling could mean for Connor’s OCD. When she asks if he can honestly say none of this is about Ruby, Adam Newman can’t answer.

It isn’t the first time. On June 4, Adam asked about another child, she asked if it was because Sally was having a baby with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson), and she said she doesn’t want another pregnancy. We asked last week whether she would say no again, and Tuesday sounds a lot like June.

It gets personal. Adam says he missed Connor’s earliest days and wants them back. Chelsea once kept Connor’s paternity from Adam, so she asks if he means the moments she stole from him. She says he is throwing her past in her face and reminds him he once said Connor would be enough. She hopes he still means it, grabs her purse and walks out.

Why Does Adam Newman Want Another Baby on Young and the Restless?

Adam Newman says it’s about Connor, but the timing points straight at Ruby. He delivered Billy and Sally’s daughter on October 20, and two weeks later he asked for a baby with her nap still on his shoulder. Adam and Sally lost their daughter, Ava, who was stillborn in June 2023, and that grief has been stirring since the delivery. Even Chelsea sees Ruby may remind him of Ava.

Back on May 26, then head writer Josh Griffith described Adam’s thinking as “If I can protect this child because I couldn’t protect the child that I lost, I will,” and said Adam is “not romantically pining” for Sally. Griffith called him “profoundly in love with Chelsea,” and nothing on screen since says otherwise. My read: this isn’t about Sally the woman. It’s about Sally’s daughter, and the fatherhood Adam lost with Ava and missed with Connor.

Young and the Restless spoilers, Billy Abbott walks in on Adam Newman to talk about Ruby

Billy Walks In Before the Door Even Settles

Chelsea isn’t gone long before Billy, fresh from walking out on his brother, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), strolls into Adam’s house uninvited to talk about Ruby. Our Canadian day-ahead has every beat, but the episode ends before we hear what Billy says. CBS says that on Wednesday, “Billy creates boundaries between Adam and Sally,” and on Friday, “Billy loses patience with Adam.”

Chelsea, meanwhile, lands at Society and tells Abby Winters (Melissa Ordway) she won’t go through the insomnia and nausea of pregnancy just because Sally did. Abby suddenly wonders if that explains how she’s been feeling.

Our readers saw this coming. When we asked why Chelsea should say yes now, one reader shot back, “It’s time for Adam to grow up,” and another said he should propose first. On another thread, a fan who feels for him still wrote that Ruby isn’t his and “he needs some distance for all of their sakes.” Someone else just counted down to November 11.

New co-head writers Jamey Giddens and Dan O’Connor have their first episode on Wednesday, November 11, eight days after Chelsea walks out. If nothing settles it by then, Adam Newman’s baby fight is waiting for them on day one. My gut says he backs off for now, and Ruby keeps the question alive.

Should Chelsea give Adam a real hearing, or was walking out the only answer? Make your case in the comments.

See what comes after the walkout in the full two weeks of Young and the Restless spoilers, including the line Billy draws on Wednesday.

Chelsea Is Right to Walk Out Until Adam Can Say It Isn’t About Ruby

Adam’s grief is real, and nobody can blame him for feeling it. But a baby is not a bandage, and Chelsea knows it. She asked him one question, whether this is about Ruby, and he couldn’t answer. Until he can, walking out is the smartest move she has.
