Young and the Restless spoilers: Adam Newman is closer to the good-son chair than he has been in years. On the August 31 episode, Victor Newman gave Victoria Newman his blessing to go after Jabot, then warned her to keep her distance from Jack Abbott, Diane and Kyle Abbott. Four days earlier, Victoria slept with Kyle in Jack’s office. Victor has no idea.
On August 4, Billy Abbott told Victor that Adam had quietly overpaid Sally Spectra for Newman Media instead of squeezing her for it, and Victor hit the ceiling. His warning was blunt: “We’re not done with this.” On August 21 the same Victor ordered Adam to use Newman Media to torch Billy over his grab for Chancellor. That is the thing about Victor: he forgives fast when the target is an Abbott.
So Adam now has Chelsea Lawson at his side, a media company that can print whatever Victor wants printed, and orders to go scorched earth. For a man who spent years as the family embarrassment, that is the best seat at the Newman table he has held in a long time.

Nick Is Fighting the Wrong War From a Rehab Bed
Nick Newman checked into rehab after the fentanyl overdose that dropped him on the floor of the Newman offices back in May. Then he checked out, landed in a motel, and saved Marie Kirkland from an overdose of her own. The two shared pills and a bed on the August 12 episode. Now they are both in treatment, and on August 26 Marie asked Nick to help her score. He said no.
Victor’s fear is not the drugs, it is the company Nick keeps. He told Nikki Newman that Marie is a bad influence, and on August 24 he threw Jack out of the ranch for offering to be Nick’s sponsor. Nikki keeps pushing Jack anyway. So Nick has a father who wants him back at Newman Enterprises once he is clean, and the same father cannot stand the two people helping him get there. Adam Newman, meanwhile, is not in rehab, not sleeping with an Abbott, and not asking Jack for a thing.
Will Adam Newman Become CEO of Newman Enterprises?
Not this week, and anyone calling it done is guessing. As of August 31, Victoria is still the sole CEO of Newman Enterprises, and Victor just handed her the Jabot war. Here is the piece nobody has put together. Victor’s warning to stay away from Kyle came four days after she slept with him, and the manufactured Newman-versus-Jabot feud Victor signed off on is the exact excuse Victoria and Kyle are using to be alone together. Victor is bankrolling the cover story for the affair that could blow up his own family.
The moment Victor learns the truth, Victoria goes from trusted CEO to the daughter who slept with the enemy. Kyle is not just any Abbott. He is the son of the man Victor threw out of the ranch last week, and he carries his own grudge against the Newmans. Adam Newman, by contrast, is running the smear campaign against Billy’s Chancellor grab that Victor personally ordered.
The Black Sheep Has Never Wanted the Throne This Honestly
Adam has sat in the Newman Enterprises chair before. He has schemed for it, fought his siblings for it, and lost it more than once. What he has never had is Victor choosing him on purpose, out loud, with the whole family watching. My gut tells me the order of operations goes like this. Victoria’s affair surfaces first, because Claire already suspects Kyle is using her mother to get at the Newmans, and Michael Mealor himself has said out loud that a secrecy pact like this one is the kiss of death on a soap. Victor explodes, and Nick digs in on Marie and Jack out of pure stubbornness. And Adam Newman becomes the only child left who did what he was told. That is not earning the throne, that is inheriting it because everyone else set fire to their own seat.

Victoria is not going to lose Newman because Adam is better at the job. She is going to lose it because she picked Kyle over her own cover story, and Victor never forgives an Abbott in the family bed.
