Young and the Restless Spoilers: Roxanne Barrington’s Return Could Shatter Devon and Abby’s Marriage

Devon’s Ex Walks Back In Just as His Marriage to Abby Faces a Test

Roxanne returns in November, and Devon’s ex could hardly have picked a touchier moment. Casting news broke Wednesday that Roxanne Barrington is coming back to Genoa City, now played by Tetona Jackson, and she is the biggest name in this week’s Young and the Restless spoilers. Devon Winters and his wife, Abby Winters, were already on notice: in September, the show’s executive producer said their marriage “will be tested.” So does Devon’s ex threaten his marriage to Abby?

Nobody has said so yet. No report says what brings Roxanne home or whether romance is involved, and no debut date has been announced beyond November. But the test the producer described starts on Abby’s side: Devon’s guilt over the kidnapping of their son, Dominic, leads Abby to turn to “someone from her past,” and the show hasn’t said who. Now Devon’s own past is walking in.

Here’s the twist only the history explains. The last time Roxanne ended things with Devon, the fight was about money. Devon, already rich, called her a gold digger after a fraud alert on the debit card he gave her, when she had really put down a deposit on a condo for the two of them. She comes home after a summer in which he questioned the money he inherited and stepped back from the family company to build a college in his late father Neil’s name that takes students whether or not they can pay.

Roxanne Barrington Knew Devon Long Before He Married Abby

Roxanne first turned up in 2007, played by Tatyana Ali, who won four NAACP Image Awards for the role, and she and Devon started dating that year. It fell apart in 2009 when she caught him with Tyra, but Devon worked his way back into her good graces. Their on-again, off-again romance finally ended over that money fight, and she left town in 2013. Our casting story on Tetona Jackson has more.

That was before Devon married Hilary Curtis, the wife who died in his arms in 2018. Abby came later still: her romance with Devon began with a kiss in November 2022, while she was still married to Chance, and she and Devon wed on Nov 13, 2024. Their years in Genoa City overlapped, but no history between Abby and Roxanne has ever been documented.

Is Roxanne Coming Back to Young and the Restless to Break Up Devon and Abby?

Not that anyone has reported. Roxanne Barrington’s return is confirmed, but her reason is not, and no report so far mentions romance. What is on the record is a marriage that already cracked once this year. In April, Devon stormed off after a fight with Abby, and on July 30 he turned down date night and told his sister, Lily Winters, that he was questioning the money he inherited and the privilege that came with it.

Abby cried at Society because he could talk to Lily and not her, and Daniel Romalotti Jr., her ex, asked if she could use a friend. Then it mended. On Aug 11, Devon stepped away from running Winters to found the college, Abby was behind him all the way, and she said it brought him back to her. Nothing has cracked on screen since.

So what brings Roxanne back: the college, Lily or a Winters business? Nobody is saying. The college is the most tempting door, since the woman Devon once wrongly called a gold digger would be walking into a school built for students who can’t pay. And the new doctor announced the same day, Dr. Andrew Bishop, is set to work with Nate Hastings and Stephanie Simmons at Genoa City Memorial; nothing ties him to Roxanne.

The last look at Devon and Abby before Roxanne arrives comes Friday, Oct 30, at a Winters family dinner where Nate and Stephanie go public. Abby is on hand at Devon’s side. Keep an eye on the two of them, because the next time they share a table, Devon’s ex could be in town.

After that, Devon and Lily head to Beyond the Gates on Wednesday, Nov 4, where Devon is working on a new album with the Articulettes; our crossover preview has the details. Roxanne lands sometime in November, with no exact date announced.

Devon and Abby’s Marriage Could Get Squeezed From Both Sides

My prediction: Roxanne Barrington doesn’t come home to break up anybody on purpose. She comes back to a man who once doubted her over money, at the very moment he is rethinking that money himself, and that is a conversation Devon may find easier to have with her than with Abby. If Abby ends up reaching for someone from her own past, Roxanne won’t have to lift a finger.
