LILY FIRES NATE IN THIS Y&R CANADIAN DAY-AHEAD
TL;DR: This Y&R Canadian Day-Ahead has Lily Winters handing Nate Hastings his pink slip at Society, with a side of good news and a very reluctant promise from Devon Winters about Cane Ashby. In London, Victoria Newman and Kyle Abbott hide in plain sight while Billy Abbott knocks on the wrong door, and Sally Spectra tells Audra Charles what she is really afraid of. Want the bigger picture? Our Y&R spoilers for the next two weeks have it all.

Lily Winters Fires Nate Hastings and Gets a Round of Applause
This Y&R Canadian Day-Ahead opens with the friendliest firing in the history of Genoa City, served at Society with a side of family love. Lily Winters sits down with Nate Hastings and Devon Winters to chat about the wedding and Sally Spectra giving birth, and then she gets to the real headline. Her test results are back, and they are negative. Everyone is thrilled, and the hugs come fast.
Lily says she is grateful and refuses to let fear rule her life. She thanks Nate for being a great support system and says Cane Ashby has been great too. He had to fly off to London after Jill Abbott had a heart attack, and Lily is sure he really has changed. Devon snaps that they will see how long that lasts, which is his usual warm welcome for any mention of Cane.
Lily asks what it will take for Devon to let go of his anger. He knows he gives Cane a hard time, but it is not easy to forget how badly Cane treated her and the twins with his fake identities. He can understand why she needs to avoid the facts. She asks him to move on, because Cane will be in her life whether Devon likes it or not, and the kids want him there too. Devon keeps fidgeting and finally spits out that he will try for her sake, but it will not happen overnight. As olive branches go, it is more of a twig that has been through a lot.
The conversation turns to Devon launching his school, and he wants to hire Daniel Romalotti and Traci Abbott to teach there. Devon is building a faculty with a Romalotti and an author, which is either brilliant or the start of a very interesting parent-teacher night.
Then the siblings urge Nate to get back to being a doctor now that his hand is nearly healed, and Lily fires him. Nate says she cannot do that. The company means a lot to him, and he wants to make sure it is stable before he leaves. They remind him he is still on the board, and Nate says working with them has healed them in ways he never hoped for. Devon is happy Nate is getting a second chance to be a surgeon, and he reminds him it will take time before he can get back to grafting and whipples. In the end, they convince Nate to take his pink slip and move on, and he admits it feels right. They all agree they are where they belong, which makes this the first firing in corporate history that ends in a group hug.

Victoria Newman Hides From Billy Abbott Behind a Peephole
In London, Victoria Newman settles into her hotel room and calls her dad. Victor Newman teases her about the Tokyo video call, the one with the blanket and the background he didn’t recognize. She gets a text from Kyle Abbott saying he’s on the way, and then she assures her father she knows how to seal the deal. Which deal is between her and a closed door.
There is a knock, and she assumes it is Kyle. When she looks through the peephole, she sees Billy Abbott. He keeps knocking and calling her name. Victoria texts Kyle to text before he comes up, and eventually Billy goes away. When Kyle shows up, Victoria drags him inside and asks if he got her text. She then sees she forgot to send it and explains that Billy was standing outside the door.
Kyle panics. Victoria is sure Billy knows nothing, because she never let him in, and they used to stay at that place, so of course Billy would assume she was there. She decides this might make things even more exciting and pulls off Kyle’s coat. Nothing says romance like a near miss at the front door.
She shows him all the food she bought, and they toast to secret getaways. Kyle asks her to tag along with him to Paris, and he suggests they tour the continent and stop at hotels along the way. She helps him off with his shirt, and they make out. Out on the balcony, Victoria admits she is nervous about going out in public with Billy somewhere in London. They need to be extra cautious, and there needs to be a way they can be careful and still make this worthwhile. She decides to visit Billy pre-emptively, but before she can go, Kyle pulls her back in for more kisses. A pre-emptive strike delayed by a make-out session is a very Victoria and Kyle way to handle damage control.

Billy Abbott and Cane Ashby Raise a Glass in a London Pub
Cane and Billy meet in a pub, and Billy explains that he stopped by the family apartment but Victoria wasn’t there. He will have to go back later. The audience would like a word with the man who knocked on that door.
Billy admits it is hard to wait for news that Jill is okay, and it was difficult to see how weak she is. Cane is confident she will be a force again, and they toast to it. Billy gets a text that Jill is sleeping, so they decide to order more drinks. Billy is sure his mom will be better once she starts criticizing him again, and Cane thinks that getting into it with her might be the worst thing possible. He accuses Billy of making this about himself and trying to get closure, and for a moment it looks like the pub might get a free show.
Cane stops things before they can turn into a fight, and Billy backs down and apologizes. He knows he has a history of making things about himself. But he has a new baby and a new wife, and he is grateful for a new start. Cane is happy for him and sure Jill will be too.
Billy Abbott Arrives Right on Time
As Victoria walks out of her hotel room, Billy returns, and he tells her he has arrived at exactly the right moment. She is startled, and so is anyone who has been counting the minutes since the peephole. Somewhere behind that door, a certain Abbott is hiding his shirt.

Audra Charles Visits Sally Spectra and Baby Ruby
Back in Genoa City, Audra Charles stops by to see Sally and the baby. She turns down holding Ruby, but Sally insists and places the baby in her arms. Audra says she is perfect and asks her friend if having a girl is bittersweet. Sally admits she had that fear at first, but she is sure Ava wants her to have nothing but joy for Ruby.
Sally is sure Audra will have the chance to be a mom again soon. Audra doesn’t think that will happen any time soon, but she has more than enough to satisfy her. They talk about whether being a mom has sunk in, and Sally doesn’t know yet because she is focused on Ruby. Her friend says she is proud of her, and Sally starts crying. She is overwhelmed by the realization that she is responsible for another human. She is in love and can’t stop checking to make sure the baby is breathing, and Audra reminds her she has lots of people to help.
Sally worries that things have been too perfect. After losing Ava, she doesn’t want anything bad to happen to Ruby, and she can’t even sleep because all she can think about is failing. Once Sally calms down, Audra reminds her that she can’t protect her child from everything and can’t feed her fears, and she points out that they turned out strong because they grew up with no hovering. She reminds Sally to ask for help when she needs it, which has never been easy for her, even when it means letting someone take over so she can rest. Audra takes her hand and assures her she will get there.
They talk about work, and Sally refuses to take a step back. Audra reminds her she needs to stay rested and threatens to set up her office on the desk. When it comes to stubborn, the Spectra and Charles partnership has no equal.

Nate Hastings Walks Out With a Pink Slip and a Smile
Lily Winters hands Nate Hastings his pink slip, and the whole Winters table sends him off like it’s a retirement party. Whether he walks straight into an operating room or finds a reason to hang around the office is anyone’s guess, and with a London hotel room full of secrets and a pub full of strong opinions, nobody in this episode is where they planned to be.
